Norwich City v Portsmouth match thread

After the poor display at Anfield Worthy has hinted at changes to the starting XI.

Personally I hope that half-time substitutes David Bentley & Leon McKenzie both start,
hopefully in place of Gary Doherty & maybe Youssef Safri.

The diamond in midfield should be scrapped asd we need more width.

IMO I would go with:

--------------Green------------

Edworthy-Fleming-Charlton-Drury

McVeigh---Francis--Holt--Bentley

--------McKenzie--Huckerby-----

subs:
Ward(gk)
Helveg
Safri
Jonson
Svensson/Doherty

Norwich City 2 - 2 Portsmouth

Huckerby(63 mins)---Yakubu(37 mins)
Charlton(67 mins)----Berger(65 mins)

I listened to the match on local radio, sounded like good end-to-end stuff

The lads showed great character coming back from a goal down twice,
but in actual fact we could and maybe should of won by the number of chances that were created (although both sides did have good chances)

I'm glad Leon got his chance today, he had a number of efforts on goal but couldn't hit the target

Yakubu opened the scoring in the first half for the Pompey scum :fero: after Greeno' punched away a swerving long-range shot from Quashie.

But Worthy's lads got the equaliser after Hucks was fouled in area by Matt Taylor
I knew Hislop would save the pen but thankfully Hucks then gobbled up the rebound

Then almost immediately the Pompey scum won a dangerous free-kick, it was touched to Berger who scored yet another stunning goal

But their lead was short-lived as the Canaries went down the other end and won a corner.
The corner was cleared initially, but Drury crossed back in for Simon Charlton to head home! :eekani:

His first goal since his Southampton days which came almost ten years ago

So yet again we fail to win, and unfortunately West Brom did but the 3 points have gotta come soon .... surely!

Canaries line-up:

Green, Edworthy, Charlton, Fleming, Drury, Jonson (McVeigh 72), Holt, Francis, Bentley, Huckerby, McKenzie (Svensson 79).

Subs Not Used: Ward, Doherty, Helveg.

Booked: Jonson.

Portsmouth line-up:

Hislop, Griffin, Primus, Unsworth, Taylor, Cisse (LuaLua 69), Faye (Hughes 78), Quashie, Berger, Kamara (Fuller 60), Yakubu.

Subs Not Used: Ashdown, Mezague.

Booked: Griffin, Taylor, Faye.

Att: 23,853.

Ref: M Messias (S Yorkshire).

Next up will be West Brom away,
would be a good time to get our first win on the board.

Will be very difficult of course though, Gera & Kanu are key for the Baggies.
