Norwich City v Crystal Palace match thread

Norwich boss Nigel Worthington has warned his team not to treat fellow Premiership new boys Crystal Palace lightly in their opening match.

"Palace proved last season what a good side they are. They are in the Premiership on merit," he said.

"They have a lot of good players, and Iain (Dowie) has added to that during the summer - so it's game on.

"Some people might think Palace at home is a good game to have first. We're not looking at it like that."

Crystal Palace begin their first season in the Premiership in six years without Neil Shipperley and Danny Butterfield.

New signing Sandor Torghelle is set to step in alongside last season's top scorer Andrew Johnson up front.

Norwich's Malky Mackay (groin), Phil Mulryne (groin) and Paul Gallacher (groin) are all major doubts.

Youssef Safri (hernia) is unavailable, but fellow new boys Thomas Helveg, Simon Charlton, David Bentley and Mattias Jonson are set to feature.

I am still unsure about how Worthy's men will line-up tomorrow, but it has to be an attack minded XI,
as this really is a must win game already! (especially with our next few fixtures in mind )

a possible line-up:

-------------------Green-------------------

Helveg------Fleming-----Charlton-------Drury

Jonson------Francis-------Holt--------------
------------------------------------Huckerby
-------------Bentley----Svensson-----------

subs:
Ward(gk)
Brennan/Edworthy
McVeigh
Henderson/Jarvis
McKenzie

Norwich City 1 - 1 Crystal Palace

Huckerby(16 mins)---Johnson(73 mins)

I listened the match on Five Live while I was at Bournemouth v Bristol City.

Apparently the game was quite frantic at times but lacking in quality.

But things were looking up once Hucks' gave the Canaries the lead!

The win just wasn't meant to be though, and Palace got a deserved equaliser through Andrew Johnson in the 2nd half.

We really needed a win here, things are looking bad already

Canaries line-up:

----------------Green---------------

Helveg----Fleming---Charlton----Drury

Jonson----Francis-----Holt-----Bentley

----------Svensson---Huckerby-------

subs:
Ward(gk)(unused)
Jarvis(unused)
McVeigh(came on for Jonson on 64 mins)
Edworthy(came on for Bentley on 71 mins)
McKenzie(came on for Svensson on 82 mins)

With hindsight it probably was a bad idea by Worthy to go more defensive by bring on Edworthy for Bentley
