Fitz Hall

The official Crystal Palace site today reported that Crystal Palace has signed the 23-year old Southampton central defender Fitz Hall for Ł1.5 million. Iain Dowie told the website that he was delighted with the signing, and said that the club has gotten a top-class player for years to come.

Hall also played for Dowie at his time in Oldham, and for his brother Bob Dowie's Chesham United before he signed for Oldham. He played 11 Premiership games for Southampton.

Hopefully Dowie is right, and Hall will make a strong impression this season.

We're not going to be short of central defenders this season
Dowie rates this bloke very highly so I wouldn't be surprised to see him go straight into the starting line up, but at who's expense, Poppo, Hudson? or maybe a change to 3 -5-2 ?

Real question is, Is the boy any good? If he couldn't get into Southampton XI, he musn't be that good.
