Is your team battling it out in the 2nd division?

Your team going to win promotion next year or face the dreaded realms of division 3?

If you have an opinion of a team or any matters within division 2 then please leave your post here

new names for the football league

The Football league has announced new names for its three division. The 2004/05 season will see division 1, 2 and 3 changed to "The Championship", "League 1" and "League 2" respectively.

The Chairman of The Football League Sir Brian Mawhinney announced that the changing of from division 1 to The Championship "will place a new enhanced emphasis on it's status as the pinnacle of our competition".

The new names means that this thread should be called *Official* League 1 thread but to save confusion i will leave it at the current name.

I hope the new name will brighten the financial outlook of the clubs and narrow the gap between The Football League and The Premiership.

Well I'm unsure how AFCB are going to do next season.

We have lost striker Warren Feeney to Stockport, but it seems like the rest of the squad are staying put.

Sean O'Driscoll needs to find a replacement for Feeney, which will be difficult.
But if SO'D finds the right man, I think we could be on the fringes of the play-offs again.

Colchester are in the same boat as Bournemouth with star striker Scott McGleish leaving and now Simon Brown left for Hibs! Now Simon has left all we have is England U-19 star keeper Dean Gerken :nervous:

I think Tranmere have got a great chance of promotion next season. The Rovers ended the season brilliantly and were unlucky not reach the play-off spots. Hopefully Eugene Dadi can score as many if not more next season he was a player i had doubts about before the season started but knows how to score goals. With Brian Little at the helm we have a decent manager to make us go far.

My prediction play-off place

Tranmere are a good side but only player does'nt make a team as I watched last season your flat footed at the back and Wayne Andrews scored a stunner past you.

Tranmere Rovers are delighted to announce that they have signed Jason McAteer on a 2 year deal.

Jason McAteer is the 5th new signing Tranmere have made after Jamaican international Theo Whitmore, Calvin Zola from Newcastle, Mike Jackson from Preston NE and Mark Rankine from Sheffield UTD.

Im quite excited about the new signing and in fact all the signings Tranmere have made the season. I think we will be one of the favourites for promotion and I hope we can reach it.
