Actually This is what the Chairman had to say about it
Taken directly from the official site:
Chairman Jeremy Peace said "Our ambition next season is to remain in the Premiership and to provide us with part of the resources necessary to meet this aim, it is necessary for us to increase season ticket prices. Ticketing income is the second largest element of our revenue and these rises are a very important part of moving the club to the next level - from being a First Division club which happens to be in the Premiership to becoming an established Premiership club. Acquiring Premiership-quality players requires extra funding and increasing the money we being in will help us to improve the squad." '
Assuming an average rise in ticket price of £120 per seat and that we sell the full allocation of 20,000 tickets again, this will give the club an extra £2.4 million to spend. If I don't see that running around on the pitch on 14th August, I'm going to be more than a little bit miffed.
Now the shock is starting to wear off a little, less than £22 a game is not too bad compared to some of the other prem clubs. We were by far the cheapest last time around, and this would put us about on a par with the lower priced clubs. I think that it is the level of the rise that has stung, and had the club done it over two seasons, I don't think we would have complained too much.
