Conference playoff final

The Conference playoff final between Aldershot and Shrewsbury is being played now, and it's extratime. I'm listening to the match on BBC local radio now. The match will be decided in the coming minutes, either by a goal, or by penalties.

It's going to penalties!

In March 1992 Aldershot FC became the first Football League team since Accrington Stanley in 1962 to fold during the football season. Since the autumn of 1992 they have fought their way back from five divisions lower than the Football League. Still the attendance for their first ever competitive fixture was higher than the last ever professional match they played. They started in the Diadora Isthmian League in 1992. Their fans have stood by them the whole time.

Now they are only a successive penalty contest away from the Football League. I really hope they make it!

Not looking good for Aldershot. After four penalties it's 1-0 to Shrewsbury.

After six penalties it's Shrewsbury - Aldershot 2-0, it's almost certainly over now. Three saves by the Shrewsbury keeper.

Still a fantastic effort by Aldershot and their fans. Their fans were singing during the whole match, and they are still completely outsinging the Shrewsbury fans, but only by praising their own team.

Hopefully Aldershot can make it next season.

It was a decent game, Shrewsbury were probably the better team and deserved the win, but Aldershot played well, but they were just happy to get that far.

Hopefully they don't make it next season, hopefully Burton do instead
