A Lyga 2012

New trainer for Zalgiris: Damir Petravic

From wikipedia:
Damir Petravić (born 17 July 1963 in Zagreb) is a Croatian football manager and a former player. He is currently the manager of Žalgiris Vilnius in the A Lyga. During his career, he played for NK Zagreb, Šibenik and Istra Pula. Petravić graduated on the Faculty of Physical Education at the University of Zagreb. He coached all youth categories of NK Zagreb, before taking over the first team. He also coached Hrvatski Dragovoljac, Vinogradar, Segesta, Gorica and Karlovac.

After NK Zagreb sacked Zlatko Kranjčar in September 2003, his assistant Petravić took over the first team for the next match. On 1 October 2003, he was appointed as full-time manager until the end of season. After his spell at NK Zagreb ended, he joined fourth-tier club Polet Buševec in the role of technical advisor before being appointed joint manager with Nino Matković in the second part of the season. In September 2005, he resigned as manager. However, he returned to Polet again in January 2006 and the following season club achieved promotion to Treća HNL. In June 2007, Petravić received an offer from Vinogradar and after consultation with the club terminated his contract by mutual consent. In January 2008, he was considered to coach Croatia Sesvete but the job went to Ljupko Petrović and Petravić returned for the third time to Polet. After a successful period at Polet, Petravić accepted an offer from Hrvatski Dragovoljac in June 2008.

In October 2008, Petravić was appointed as manager of Segesta after Srećko Bogdan left the club by mutual consent. After three successive defeats, Petravić openly criticized the board due to their lack of support and went in strike with several players. He was sacked as manager in April 2009. Petravić then took over the helm of Gorica in Treća HNL and managed to secure two successive promotions for the club. However, Gorica didn't got a license for competing in the top division. In September 2011, it was announced that Petravić was appointed as manager of Karlovac. On the last day of 2011, Petravić announced his resignation citing dissatisfaction with the current situation at the club and unpaid wages.Several days later, Petravić took over the helm of Lithuanian club Žalgiris Vilnius.

The most powerful country club called left defender who played in France John Glele in the review of the club; recently he was playing in Cyprus, “Limassol” club.

25-year-old defender has started his professional football defender’s career in 2004 in France, in the second league, "En Avant de Guingamp” team. A year later, he moved to “Amiens SC” team, and the last three seasons he represented "APEP" Cyprus and "Aris Limassol” teams.

Footballer is a part of the Benin national team.

Ramunas Radavičius to play in “Ekranas”!2011 december 27d.
Lithuanian national team player, one of the best footballers in the country will wear the Blue-Reds t-shirt next year as well.

R. Radavičius extended the contract with the national champions for another two years. According to the player, he decided to stay in FC "Ekranas" because there were no sharp changes in the line-up of the championlike team.

Though R. Radavičius repeatedly hinted at the possibility to move to a foreign club after the last season, but the footballer didn’t flounce about and remained in the national champion’s team.

The midfielder was the second best footballer playing in Lithuania fro the second year in a row, the first was Ignas Dedura. According to R. Radavičius, he did not see this election as serious, since what matters is the final team results of the titles. After all, football is team’s sport, so there are no personal achievements important.

Within two years, R. Radavičius played 70 official matches and scored 16 goals in FC "Ekranas". He joined the club at the end of 2009. Before that, he represented “Suduva” Marijampole “Zalgiris” Vilnius and FC “Vilnius”. Over the past two years, R. Radavičius fixated in the national team of the country and he is regularly invited to camps of the reserve team. Last season the football player scored five goals in 26 matches and made 13 passes in the A league. According to this criteria the midfielder was the first in the champion’s team, as well as in the A league

Whether he stays in the strongest Lithuanian club will become clear after the review

Calum Elliot agrees move to Lithuanian side VMFD Zalgiris
Former Hearts striker Calum Elliot.©SNS Group
MenuCommentSend to a friendSocial shareThe former Hearts striker has agreed a two-year deal to move to Vilnius.
Calum Elliot has agreed a two-year contract with Lithuanian side VMFD Zalgiris.

As revealed last week by STV, the former Hearts striker will move to Vilnius on a free transfer, having turned down the opportunity of a trial spell with MLS side Houston Dynamo.

Elliot will travel to Lithuania on Thursday to conclude the deal. The 24-year-old was released from his contract at Hearts at the start of the transfer window, having scored 16 goals in 124 appearances for the Edinburgh club.

Zalgiris finished second in last season's Lithuanian top flight, finishing eight points behind champions Ekranas. The club will participate in next season's Europa League, entering in the first qualifying round.

Elliot's last competitive appearance came during a loan spell with Dundee, where he failed to find the net in six games.

The former Scotland Under-21 international has also had spells on loan at Motherwell and Livingston in his career, scoring two and 11 goals respectively.

“Everything has been agreed,” Elliot told the Scotsman of the move. “I’m delighted and it’s obviously a big move for me. The longer you go without a club the more you worry.

“You could say it’s a step into the unknown so there’s an element of trepidation. But I phoned Marius Zaliukas, who I’m friendly with from my time at Hearts.

"He says Vilnius is an ideal place to live in, so it helped put my mind at rest a bit.”
