Levadia fails to take initiative
7/29/2009 - FC Levadia Tallinn's hopes to reach the fourth qualifying stage of the UEFA Champions League received a blow when they lost 0:1 on home ground to Hungarian champions Debreceni VSC.
Levadia, who left famous Wisla Krakow in shame a week ago, took the initiative in the first half with Konstantin Nahk hitting the post from 20 meters. On the second half Debreceni forced their style of play on Levadia and they had success. Leandro opened the scoreline on 70. Minute and it was the only goal of the game.
“We dropped too low in the second half, got tired and couldn't get the ball to our strikers,” said Levadia manager Igor Prins.
Another blow for Levadia was Nahk's yellow card that forces him to miss the next game against Debreceni because also he earned a card against Wisl.
“We have to be more aggressive next week and work hard to try to score a goal,” said left-back Taijo Teniste.
Debreceni VSC will host Levadia in their 3. qualification 2. leg match next Wednesday at Debreceni Oláh Gábor utcai stadium.
