Read a stat today that Latvia had 8385 people playing football. yet they managed to qualify to a major tournament.

1 for 298 inhabitant. while Switzerland had 232700 one for 32 inhabitant which is a lot, imo.

it is all about the registration procedures IMO

kids are playing football but they don't sign up anywhere

The statistical side of things is more organized in Western European countries and this is why they have far higher official numbers that EE countries where kids probably spend more time playing football & take it more seriously but there are no official records to back it up

look at this map for example. I don't really buy it that football is more popular in France or Switzerland than in Ukraine or Romania (or in Brazil ) :

Big games are easy than the other games, unfortunately. Every times we have the control the games, under the control the games, during the games we had the some possibilities, some big chances, some big okazyons, something like that but what can I do, sometimes? And….it’s the football, that’s the football, something happened. Everything is something happened. - Fatih Terim

0-1 Against Israel after 55'. Latva isn't doing much pressure on Israel defense though.

Still 0-1 Israel hits the post. Latvia is pretty much clueless in attack despite being not that bad in the play.
