Maybe we'll make a better game with our talented U-21 than our seniors at the Euro 2004...

The German U21 showed a pretty good performance at the qualifiers for Euro2006 with 7 wins and 3 draws (against Poland and twice against England). I can't remember our U21 being in a better shape for decades.
The most prospects have the talented goalkeeper Michael Rensing from Bayern München (unfortunately having Oliver Kahn in front of him) and striker Stefan Kießling from Nürnberg who is performing better in the Bundesliga than any of our A-Team's strikers at the moment. With Odonkor, Rafael and Hunt (sound quite much like Germans ) we have some more promising strikers. Ok, except Trochowski and Masmanidis only midfielders from the second division, but they will do as well. And our defenders recently could fetch some Bundesliga experience too.
After all, I think it's the young players' spirit that makes the difference to our seniors. These guys still know that they have to prove their qualities in every game. So I hope they will do against Latvia, giving them a real challange.

hey Mao...what about Matias Lehmann (isnt it?) from 1860. Last i heard he was a good prospect. Kiessling is just brilliant. Outstanding player. And the same has to be said of Piotr. Both should be at the World Cup.

Did Mourinho ask Bayern about you?

I don't know. If he had, they would probably have said that Ballack has no talent, but he aint shabby in the air.

Matthias Lehmann currently plays a quite weak season with 1860 and hasn't performed that good after recovered from a severe injury.
Piotr Trochowski managed to replace the injured Rafael van der Vaart at the Hamburger SV quite respectable. But I think with Ballack and Borowski on his position the World Cup comes way to early for him, one should give him some more seasons. Same goes for Stefan Kießling, so we have to hope that Klose and Podolski get into form till June.

So this is almost our strongest squad, without Pahars of course. I just wonder who will star in the central defense alongs with Stepanovs, Zakreševskis ? Hope Višņakov will start will need to rebuilt the team with youngsters !

I unfortunately haven't watched the game, but the press says, that our U-21 made a better game than our seniors did two years ago, as I foresaw.
Apparently one could notice the absence of our strikers Kießling and Hanke as we missed our chances.

Rensing - Ochs, Brzenska (80. Matip), Sinkiewicz, Fathi (66. Schulz) - Hilbert (60. Castro), Niemeyer, Polanski (72. Trochowski), Fischer (46. Helmes) - Masmanidis (60. Odonkor), Rafael.
