Heart of Lithuania Thread

Quick update on the progress of these three Lithuanians here at Hearts in Scotland.

2 Apr 05 - Celtic 0-2 Hearts (Scottish Premierleague)
Cesnauskis arrived late from NT duty so was on the bench but never came on. Kizys made his first start and help setup the first goal from a free-kick. He played brilliantly but took a knock and came off after 72 minutes.

19 Mar 05 - Hearts 3-1 Livingston (Scottish Premierleague)
Cesnauskis played the full 90 minutes and had a decent game. Kizys came on and played well for the last 25 minutes.

5 Mar 05 - Dunfermline 1-1 Hearts (Scottish Premierleague)
Mikoliunas obviously didn't feature as this is the first match of his suspension. Cesnauskis started the game again and had a good 2nd half although he was booked for diving. Kizys was an unused substitute.

2 Mar 05 - Hearts 1-2 Rangers (Scottish Premierleague)
Well, where to start?! Mikoliunas and Cesnauskis both started the game with Kizys on the bench. Cesnauskis should have given Hearts the lead early on but he blazed over from a Mikoliunas cross when even I would have scored! Mikoliunas then had a powerful shot from 12 yards saved against the post by Rangers' keeper. Both played excellent in a first half that should have saw Hearts leading at half-time.
The second half was not as good for either though as Hearts didn't play as well and Rangers took the lead after 49 minutes. Kizys came on again with just under 15 minutes remaining. Cesnauskis in particular was disappointing in the second half and he let his head drop after a couple of mistakes and was subbed with 5 minutes to go. Hearts equalised though with 88 minutes on the clock through Burchill and looked like the game was headed for a draw. Then the chaos...
Rangers pushed for a winner and when a cross came in to the back post Miller and Kyrgiakos (Rangers) both jumped and missed the ball which went behind for a goal kick. Kyrgiakos claimed he was fouled and the linesman raised his flag even though the referee had awarded the goal kick. While the ref was talking to the linesman Prso raised his hands to Hearts' goalie Gordon and was red-carded. A penalty was then awarded to Rangers, the softest penalty you will ever see and Miko in fury ran to the linesman and 'barged' him chest to chest. Miko was then sent-off and received a SECOND red card for swearing at the referee. Rangers scored the penalty to win the game with virtually the last kick of the ball. :frustrat:

Miko looks like he will be suspended for 6-10 games and is reported to be prepared to return to Kaunus if he is wrapped by Hearts also.

27 Feb 05 - Hearts 2-1 Livingston (Scottish Cup Quarter-Final)
Mikoliunas started this game, Cesnauskis and Kizys were on the bench. Mikoliunas started the game brilliantly and setup Hearts 2nd goal after 9 minutes. He then put it on a plate for Miller who should have scored from 6 yards after 15 minutes. He faded in the second half and was substituted for Cesnauskis after 77 minutes. Cesnauskis didn't get much of the ball as Hearts defended the last part of the game and progressed to the Semi-Final of the Scottish Cup

19 Feb 05 - Motherwell 2-0 Hearts (Scottish Premierleague)
Mikoliunas and Cesnauskis both started the game but both were poor, as was the whole Hearts team infact. Cesnauskis was subbed after 59 minutes. Kizys came on again to play the last 10 minutes and done ok.

16 Feb 05 - Kilmarnock 1-3 Hearts (Scottish Cup 4th Round Replay)
Cesnauskis made his debut last night in the Scottish Cup scoring a goal and was awarded the Man of the Match. Mikoliunas also played well in this game and setup Cesnauskis' goal.

12 Feb 05 - Hearts 3-0 Kilmarnock (Scottish Premierleague)
Mikoliunas scored his first goal for Hearts and received the Man of the Match award after a brilliant game. Kizys came on to make his debut with 15 minutes left of play.

A video of Mikoliunas goal can be viewed at:

5 Feb 05 - Hearts 2-2 Kilmarnock (Scottish Cup 4th Round)
Mikoliunas again played well and came off on 74 minutes.

1 Feb 05 - Motherwell 3-2 Hearts AET (C.I.S Cup Semi-Final)
Mikoliunas played well but was constantly fouled by the Motherwell defence as this was the only way they could stop him. Tired in extra time after 120 minutes.

29 Jan 05 - Hearts 1-0 Aberdeen (Scottish Premierleague)
Mikoliunas started his first game and quickly caught the eye of the fans with some silky football.

25 Jan 05 - Livingston 1-2 Hearts (Scottish Premierleague)
Mikoliunas came off the bench to make his debut with 15 minutes left to play and inspired Hearts to a 2-1 victory after being 1-0 behind.

Kizys has been playing mainly for Hearts Reserves but reports have been good about him so far.

I remember him scoring a great goal against Hibs in the game which clinched seven-in-a-row. He was so lazy though.

Mikoliunas was sent off against Rangers tonight for running up to the linesman and 'chesting' him. He'll probably be banned for at least 2 games since the powers that be always come down hard on referee-intimidators.

Him and Cesnauskis were excellent in the first half though.

Well, all the TV pictures I've seen have been from the 'wrong' angle but it certainly looks like a stonewaller.

Nah, it wasn't a penalty, I don't think.

Hearts have today requested to the SFA an investigation into the integrity of the match officials and the award of the 'penalty'. If anything untoward is found in the report a replay will be requested by Hearts!!

It'll never happen. Really, it was a bad decision but it happens to every team. Get on with it.

They don't believe for a second that a replay will take place, its more of a signal to say we are not just going to bend over and get ass raped by the SFA unlike previous years!

Brilliant
There are rumours we might try and arrange a pre-season tour of Lithuania or at least a friendly against Kaunus

Hopefully the anger from Wednesday night will work in our favour tomorrow and I can see us winning 3-0
