Fantastic qualification, and fantastic win for Latvia in Sweden today. Latvia will go into Qualification, and can still get to Euro 2004.

Yeah, I feel sorry for Latvia, I really wanted them to qualify, but I think Turkey is too much of a difficult opponnent (why couldn't they draw Norway or Slovenia or something), though, you never know, the ball is round and the game lasts 90 minutes (or more). I think they can win at home like 1-0, but that's it.

Hmm, i dunno, Turkey arent the team that finished 3rd in the WC imo, though they are still faves. But Latvia are quite a defensively solid side and Pahars (if fit) and Maris Verpakovskis (i think!) they have some forwards with potential.

If Turkey have an off day they can do it. they did well in a tough group to even get here.

BTW, im after a Latvia shirt, any help?

There are relatively few easy games these days and England showed Latvia how Turkey can be stalled but of course Latvia are not near the calibre of the English but anything is possible. After watching Turkey vs England and where Gunes subbed out all his midfield but Tugay you have to wonder the tactics of the Turkish coaching staff. Latvia are capable of a miracle but you would have to be a heavy gambler to bet on it

Aren't there any latvians in here?

Can you tell me about your team? Which players should Turkey look out for? What is your starting lineup?

Aguia, Günes sometimes makes some strange choices.
I actually think we have a stronger team than in the world cup once we get rid of Sükür and Alpay and replace them with some of our young talents (Tuncay and Servet)

i think they might make it to euro 2004, if

1) the turks underestimate them to such a point that their usual tactics may be successful, i.e. exteremely tough and clever defense combinated with dangerous counter attacks (hungary, poland and sweden all experienced that)

2) turkish players are really sensitive to eventual climatic circumstances in a latvian november night

if all the best comes together, latvia has 2 good days and turkey does not take it too serious, it might happen that the miracle looks like: turkey vs latvia 1-1, latvia vs turkey 0-0.

anyway, i always support the underdogs, so do i in this very case and therefore: GO LATVIA
