The Andriy Voronin Thread

They have confirmed today that new American Liverpool owners have an agreement with Bayer 04 Leverkusen for a transfer during the summer. This is their first move since taking over the club. I think this is great as Voronin needed to get away from Bayer and take on new challenges. I think his game very much suits the EPL and he should have much success in England!!

Thoughts?

Ah good luck to him. My old boss was a 1/4 Ukrainian Liverpool fan, sure he will be pleased. Hopefully he does better than Rebrov, Sheva and Luzhny have so far managed.

Dynamo Kyiv are better than Shakhtar Donnetsk!

English game will actualy fit Voronin's style. But he has problems scoring in the last couple of years at all levels - that could be a problem for the striker.

Liverpool doesn't have to agree with Bayer. Voronin is/was free to talk to any party.

BTW this junk is hilarious.

Voronin set for Reds switch
2/18/2007
Bayern Leverkusen striker Andriy Voronin has reportedly clinched a deal to join Liverpool in the summer.

The Ukrainian international is out of contract at the end of the season and has reached a agreement that will see him join The Reds on a four-year contract in June.

Voronin had been linked with a move to Celtic in December but will now join Craig Bellamy, Peter Crouch, Robbie Fowler and Dirk Kuyt in Rafa Benitez's plans at Anfield.

The 27-year-old has bagged six goals in 20 league appearances for the German club this season and, following Bayer's 1-0 defeat to Hannover on Saturday, it was announced that the striker will pursue a career in England come the end of the season.

Voronin is keen to widen his experiences after spending a decade in Germany since joining Borussia Moenchengladbach as an 18-year-old from his native Ukraine.

"I have been in Germany for ten years now, that is a long time," said Voronin in Kicker. "I want to see something else."

Voronin's prospective arrival could provoke fresh doubts over Fowler's future at Anfield, as the Reds hero also sees his contract expire at the end of the season.

Very bad move. For Ukranians Voronin might be one of the key player who play in top league, but for liverpool it's just another foreign who reached 1/4 of World Cup with his team.

I don't understand players who prefer to join some fancy club for money and i am sure they realize themselves that bench already has their name knife-scratched in there, rather than play, especially when their team does pay a good ammount of money (well i'm not saying Bayer is a good choice but not some blockbuster like liverpool).

Negative side: Won't play, ruin career in early age, get fat from inactivity, eventually loose spot in UNT,will get married on British chick who will not come to Ukraine to watch Voronin play for his NT because it's too "cold" out there.

Positive side: More money, when you look at Ukranian squad you see Voronin plays in top league with Sheva like super striker duet, warm poor cold benches, will have an opportunity to watch Crouch robot.

... I wish we would be back at 70's when top players played on hard grass, with some old fake asian ball (without all those super technology like now) and will have "i want to win the league champion with dynamo kiev next season coach" in their heart insthead of "haha i just played full 90 minutes, casino party on Surkis BABLo baby yeah!"

DevilZ, your Positive side, at first sounded indeed like positive but as you went on, it became a continuation of the negative one p

Personally, I did want him to leave Bayer... He gave that club all he could. Its was a perfect time to leave... I never expected he would join a club like Liverpool.... I thought he would join some half decent club in Spain...
But, oh well... we might see 2 Ukrainians playing each other in the EPL for the first time in the history of the universe p

Did Rebrov and Luzhny never play against each other then? In 2000-2002 sometime.

Dynamo Kyiv are better than Shakhtar Donnetsk!
