Ukrainians in the EU

What is the criteria for a Uke to play for a team in Western Europe. Is there a set number of games they have to play, an age limit or a minimum number of caps, minimum wage... I am only asking because there is a debate going on about ex. Southampton player Andrey Pereplyotkin, who now plays for Skonto but couldn't get a work permit in the UK.

Dynamo Kyiv are better than Shakhtar Donnetsk!

It has nothing to do with the age limit, number of games, or minimum wage... The only thing that counts are player's international caps...
He must have played at least 75% of its national teams matched for which he was available (i.e. games while injured or suspended are not taken into consideration) during the last 2 years preceding the work permit application.

In additional his national team must be ranked above 70th place in the FIFA ranking, over the last 2 years (on average; that is all places are added together and then multiplied by 24 - the number of FIFA rankings issued in 2 years, - the result must be 70 or higher, not higher in mathematical term i.e. 71+, but higher in the standing terms p i.e. 69, 68 etc)...

Note: this is ONLY for the football leagues in Britain... The rulings differ from country to country... Unlike Britain, many other EU countries will restrict a number of non-EU players in the team. So if you want to purchase a non-EU player, you will have to sell one first (i.e. Italy)

P.S. Im not really familiar how the things work with youth contracts - i assume Pereplyotkin played for you under a youth contract those years ago? In any case, it will be impossible for you to bring him back atm...

In a word, it is not the Ukrainian player who should be addressed, these are the EU countries who have to be asked how exactly they restrict the foreigners from getting the right to play. :smileani:

In Spain, there is a limit for the foreigners in a team, but you don't need a work permit to play.
