Expectations?

What are Ukraine's fan's expecting from their beloved countrymen on the world's biggest stage?

Are we happy just to be there?
Will just getting out of the group be enough?
Are quarter finals a dissapointment?
There is always a suprise team in the semi's, why can't that be us?

Discuss.

personally i think there is potential to get to the last eight but that would be a long shot so i would say getting to the second round would make me very happy.

Seriously as a not 100% biased fan , I think Ukraine can be the surprise of this World Cup, no one is thinking about Ukraine, while Ukraine was the first European nation who qualified (except Germany ok). The group is ok, the current form too and the group can grow into the tournament, especially if Sheva gets fit on time.

My prediction, Ukraine World Cup Winners 2006.

That's a powerful prediction,

What the Ukrainians have to remember is to take it one game at a time, don't get ahead of yourself. So if we beat Spain, don't think we've wrapped up the group just yet. One game at a time, Blokhin has established this well throughout the team.

I agree Knoert's opinion. From my point of view Ukraine has good chances to get into semis.

Up until the draw was made, i was satisfied with just being there, but knowing that we avoided some really though teams, now i expect them to get out the group... That will give me more than enough satisfaction - 1/8 final - thats my expectation!

I will not predict how far we will go thoguh, since Im a fan and will always beleive we can beat anyone, if not in an open game, than just siting back with 12 men (fans too) and waiting for the opportunity - if it doesnt come hoping for a good luck in penatly shootout like we did in the semis of the youth tourny

We got somewhat lucky with the draw (at least, on the paper). But this put some pressure on the team as well. Anything short of qualification fot 1/8 will be considered a failure.

haha, be serious man, this is Ukraine's first time in a majour tournament and you regard qualifying out of the gorup for the last 16 as a failure?

With Ukraine's easy group a round of 16 place is what's expected from a team like this, making it out of the last 16 is a bonus. And Ukraine will most likely be second in their group which means that probably you guys will face a powerhouse in the last 16.

Ukraine is not Russia, especially in football, make sure you remember that.

The teams have different expectations. For Russia, probably scoring a goal is good. For Ukraine, they expect at least quarter finals, but not getting out of the group is a bigggg failure...

Im only saying this because you might get confused with the type of expectations we have. A Frenchman or Italian, for example have higher expectations so they would understand it. Im just trying to make sure you understand p.

Dima, Ukraine has been living and playing at all major tournaments forever. By proxy. Via USSR & Russia. Get serious.

I would be disappointed if we didn't finish first in our group, infact i'm expecting us to finish first.
