Relegation Battle

05/06 Premier League Relegation Battle

Arsenal-------29--9--7--13--29--37---------34
Vorskla-------29--8--10-11--27--34---------34
FC Kharkiv----29--9--6--14--29--35---------33
Kryvbas------29--9--6--14--27--34---------33
================================================== =====
Volyn--------29--9--5--15--31--45---------32
Zakarpattia--29--3--6--20--17--51---------15

Matches:
Metalurh D- Arsenal
Vorskla- Stal
Metalist- FC Kharkiv
Dnipro- Kryvbas
Volyn- Tavria

Anything could happen in the last round, Metalurh could continue their performance by loosing to arsenal, vorskla would probably get a win only the fact that Stal are out of the relegation battle and might take their foot off the Peddle. Kharkiv have got that game in the bag, they are probably celebrating their survival now. That leaves krivbas and volyn. Results can go either way as Dnipro would probably go for the win as they are still not guaranteed a spot in the top eight.

Only time will tell. Thoughts? Predictions?

Even if Volyn gets a point it wont be good enough... They simply have to win... And Tavria lost only 1 game as far as i remember all this year... Wont be easy and, unfortunatelly, i too think Volyn will be relegated

The tables from the 2nd half (R15-R29), Games in 2006 (R20-R29) and last 5 games show why Volyn' is in the relegation zone.

Second Half of the season

Volyn is the worst performing team in the 2nd half of the season.
Even worse than Zakrap!

2006

In 2006 Volyn is ranked 15th.

Tavrija and The Kozaks have improved with their performances this year to get themselves out of the relegation mire.

Code:
 1.Shakhtar Donets'k 10 8 2 0 20- 4 26

16.Zakarpattja Uzhhorod 10 1 1 8 6-20 4
Last 5 games

If anything Volyn can only hope that FC XAPKIB is in the dumps and that Metallist will play this game as if they didn't want anudder XAPKIB team in the Vyshcha liha.

Arsenal, Stal' and Kryvbas all have lifted their game in the last 5 games.

Whats also interesting is to see how poorly Illichivets and Metallurh Donets'k have performed any show clearly why they failed to get into 3rd place when they had a chance.

Code:
 1.Shakhtar Donets'k 5 4 1 0 10- 2 13

The 2006 records appear to be the most appropriate when examining the latest club form. I think with the exception of Shakhtar, Dynamo, and several other clubs, most clubs that did well in the 2005 suddenly find themselves either in danger of relegation or in midtable, while the underperforming sides of 2005 such as Tavria and Metalurh Z have benefitted significantly from having the winter break. Thanks for the compilation, Fedya.

Yea, thanks for that Fedya.

If Zakarpattya AND Volyn' go down next year it will be a VERY tiring season for Karpaty, and that's what Im worried about. We'll need to win pretty much EVERY game in Lviv to stay competitive. Because every road game will be quite a distance away...

You don't have to show me the statistics from the second half, i already knew that volyn were the worst performers of the second half , I am praying for a miracle but in reality i think ill see them in the first league with zakarpattya. Maybe then they can work on elevating their youth into their first squad instead of wasting their money on sh*t foreigners.

Maybe, but with some of their performances this season they should go down.

The game is in Luts'k, so they should have at least a 12th man behind them..I'd be very surprised not to see a great attendance in Luts'k...

On Wednesday, the 10th of May 2006, I'll be a Volyn' Luts'k supporter - At least for the duration of the game..I can't imagine them going down..

Nah, 100% pure Karpaty . But for that day - Volyn' Luts'k ole ole ole .

PS - Remember a few weeks ago I was talking to you about a possible Western Ukrainian derby? And you said - Volyn' doesn't pay attention to First division clubs or something like that... - Oh how the tables seem to be turning

The least distance Karpaty will have to travel will be 539 km (Kyiv) which is about twice the distance from Uzhhorod (259 km) and 4 times further than Lutsk (145 km)

NB: all times show the minimum time you'll spend on the road if you follow the traffic rules and travel by car/bus...

Code:
From-To Distance (Time)
Lviv-Kyiv:	539 km (07 hr 33 min)
Lviv-Kyiv:	539 km (07 hr 33 min)
Lviv-Odesa:	795 km (11 hr 32 min)
Lviv-Poltava:	853 km (13 hr 11 min)
Lviv-Kryvyi Rih:	853 km (12 hr 30 min)
Lviv-Dnipropet:	970 km (13 hr 59 min)
Lviv-Kharkiv:	993 km (15 hr 01 min)
Lviv-Kharkiv:	993 km (15 hr 01 min)
Lviv-Zoporizzha:	996 km (14 hr 47 min)
Lviv-Simferopol:	1144 km (16 hr 40 min)
Lviv-Mariupol:	1284 km (18 hr 26 min)
Lviv-Alchivsk:	1358 km (19 hr 27 min)
Lviv-Luhansk:	1380 km (19 hr 48 min)
Lviv-Donetsk:	1458 km (21 hr 25 min)
Lviv-Donetsk:	1458 km (21 hr 25 min)
---------------------------TOTAL---------------------------
DISTANCE: 15,613 km
TIME: 228 hr 18 min

But dont forget that you have to travel twice this distance - to AND from the destination. So in total Karpaty would have to travel over 30,000 km (!!!) and spend almost 10 full days (!!!) travelling.

I honestly dont know any other team in Europe that would have to travel such distance over the course of a season... :eekani:

Please enter a password for your user account. Note that passwords are case-sensitive. Try to avoid choosing short (like '1'), simple (like 'abcd') and easy to guess passwords (like a name of your favorite team, player, etc)! Complex and long enough passwords, that consists of random string of alphabet and numerical characters, are almost impossible to be stolen and misused.
