'Ukraine to win WorldCup' Odds

There's still about 8 months to go until the WorldCup next year and I just thought it would be interesting to see how we'll progress/regress in the eyes of the most popular betting firm - William Hill...

At the moment, they put us pretty high up in the betting list, I wonder how mcuh will that change when June 2006 comes...

Personally I think they put us there because they got intimidated by Blokhin's promise to win the World Cup... He already kept one promise and managed to take us through from the most unlikely group and so William Hill decided not to take any chances this time

They listed teams which have already qualified and which can STILL qualify... thats why there are more than 32 countries on that list...

Its better to bet now, cause the closer the World Cup gets the smaller the odds will be... I mean when will you get better odds than 4/1 for Brazil to win the WC?
In June it will probably be something like 1.5/1

Lol, so going by those odds, Australia is given little chance to beat Uruguay. :depress:

And yes, Spain is too high, but then again so is Ukraine....Serbia is the under-rated one of the lot I think. Their SQUAD is better than most of the countries there and I could point to several players who could shine at Germany. (Im a big fan of Serbian football though )

I think Togo is the dark-horse Seriously though; so many regulars are missing, and several new-comers and suprise nations, will make this a very interesting World Cup indeed.

Australia have very little chances of beating Uruguay, so the odds are correct

Brazil and the Argies as favourites I can agree with that, but England and Germany are too high. Holland have got to be seriuosly considered, van Bastens done a really good job blending youth and experience, Spain, Italy and Portugal should all do well.

Germany will be spurred on by the home crowd but I cant see them repeating last times amazing performance, a quarter final maybe semi final place should be considered quite an achievement by a NEW transitional german side.

Then come England, full of promise but failing again, Erikkson has so far and will no doubt continue to fail to utilise the midfield at his disposal to the max, another average quarter final knock out looms.

As for Ukrainia, being there is fantastic achievement, but know we have to continue performing, I think a 2nd round place would please many, with the quarter finals maybe being a too bigger ask, however with a good draw the quarter finals are a possibilty.

By the way, have we got anyone who's planning on being in Germany for the WC next year? I know i am! Has any1 be fortunate enough to reserve tickets already as well?

I will be a bit more pessimistic about our strenght and how far we'll progress... I would be completely satisfied if we get out the group... I simply dont wanna predict anything beyond that point, cause you simply have to do it one step at a time...

I know that we are very strong defensively, mostly thanx to our players determination and willingness to give everything they got (thats the main reason behind our poor results in games which count for nothing i.e. friendly games), but I somehow doubt our ability to score goals... Its always been a problem for us... Shevchenko is always watched by 2 defenders and this suppose to give more space for the other forward/striker (in theory), but it usually doesnt work out that way...

Anyway, as much as want us to play attractive football, I dont really believe that we will... We simply cant play attractively and get results... Hopefully in time we will learn how to do it, but for the moment I think we should stick to what we do best - defend well, soak up the pressure, then counter, get a goal and defend with 10 men... lol

P.S. I wasnt so fortunate in getting the tickets yet... Hopefully I'll be able to get it when the next "window" is open...

Yeah there seem to be alot of people who suffered the same fate in FIFA's ticket fiasco.

Have you been on the website recently, not only have they provisionally sold all the tickets for every country signed up to FIFA wether or not they will be at the world cup or not, but they are now selling tickets for tickets to any game, by the ground!!

FIFA just don't have a clue what fans want!!!!!

SACK BLATTER, FOR THE GOOD OF THE GAME!
