Banik Ostrava: Back in Europe again

I see they haven't a thread here so far.... so here it is.

The 1.FCN played a friendly game against Banik Ostrava last Saturday. We won by 4-1, but what impressed me more was the loud support from around 200 Ostrava fans. Pretty good singing throughout the whole game. Well done lads!

This is the second player FC Midtjylland bought from Banik in less than a year (first was Raska). Can anyone give me a few words about him? He is to replace the captain and key player in his new club. I see he's earned 11 yellow cards this season.

Nope, don't really know anything about him.

OSTRAVA’S STRIHAVKA CLOSE TO NORWICH MOVE?
Banik Ostrava striker David Strihavka is close to a deal with English second-tier side Norwich City, according to the player’s agent, Ondrej Chovanec.

Strihavka, who was the Gambrinus Liga’s second highest scorer last season, is reportedly seen as a replacement for Robert Earnshaw, who is joining Derby County.

“Nothing has been signed yet,” Chovanec told the Czech website PremierLeague.cz. “It’s highly probable, however, that [Strihavka] will move there.”

Chovanec supposedly expects a deal to be done in the next few days. Banik Ostrava General Manager Werner Licka, however, has denied the report.

OSTRAVA SIGN TCHUR FROM ARTMEDIA
Banik Ostrava have signed left-sided defender Daniel Tchur from Slovak side Artmedia Bratislava.

The Ostrava-born 30-year-old, who previously played in the Gambrinus Liga with Slavia Praha, has signed a two-year deal with option with Banik.

Ostrava had been trying out Robert Caha in the same position but the well-travelled 31-year-old has opted instead to return to Iran where he’s been based since 2005.

SVERKOS HEADING BACK TO OSTRAVA
Vaclav Sverkos looks set to return to Banik Ostrava, after four years playing in Germany and Austria.

Following a loan spell with Austria Wien, Borussia Monchengladbach have informed the 23-year-old striker that he’s not part of their plans.

Gladbach are now in talks with Banik, the club where Sverkos began his professional career, and although a deal is not yet done, the player is expected to begin training with Ostrava today.

STRIHAVKA AGREES TERMS WITH NORWICH
Banik Ostrava striker David Strihavka has agreed personal terms with Norwich City but is still waiting for the two clubs to agree a transfer deal.

The 24-year-old has agreed to join the English second-tier side on a four-year contract, and supposedly has a get-out clause in his Ostrava contract should any club offer a transfer fee of one million euros or more.

According to media reports, it’s now only a question of time before Strihavka — the Gambrinus Liga’s second-highest scorer last season — joins the East Anglia side.

SVERKOS TRAINS WITH BANIK OSTRAVA
As expected, Vaclav Sverkos took part in his first training session with former club Banik Ostrava yesterday, at the club’s Bazaly stadium.

Officially, talks between Banik and Borussia Monchengladbach over the 23-year-old striker’s future are ongoing but a “well informed source” has told the CTK news agency that the two sides have already agreed the price Ostrava must pay to buy out Sverkos’s contract.

“I believe everything is going well and that I’ll soon be scoring goals again for Banik,” Sverkos told CTK.

Sparta Praha and German second division side 1. FC Koln have also shown an interest in the former Under-21 international.

Good striker, should do well for you. He knows how to hit the net, I always considered him as one of better strikers around in Czech league.

SVERKOS COMPLETES OSTRAVA RETURN
After training with his former club for a week, Vaclav Sverkos completed his return to Banik Ostrava yesterday, signing a two-year contract with option.

Banik have already agreed to buy out the 23-year-old striker’s contract with German side Borussia Monchengladbach, meaning that nothing now stands in the way of Sverkos playing in the Gambrinus Liga next season.

Sverkos joined Gladbach four years ago, with seemingly excellent prospects, but, unable to get regular first-team football, was loaned out Hertha Berlin and Austria Wien in the past two seasons.
