Slavia - Radek Cerny is not Returning, his loan was tranformed into a transfer, so he'll be in Totenham.

Karel Pitak to Red Bul Salzburg ... such a pity

Zbynek Pospech came from Liberec to Sparta.

And what a transfer - Martin Abraham goes to Mladá Boleslav from Liberec! Big loss for Slovan...

Liberec has a historic chance to make it into Champions League after getting seeded. They will not have another chance to get into CL for a while. They need to buy new players in a hurry.

Sparta ready to start again
Friday, 23 June 2006
by Josef Ladislav
from Prague

The most successful Czech club of the last decade, AC Sparta Praha, are back in training with only one new face in their squad.

Returning players
Midfielder Milan Petržela has joined from 1. FC Slovácko but the return of two players from loan has bolstered the ranks. Having scored five goals to help FC Slovan Liberec to the title, striker Zbyněk Pospěch is back along with defender Jiří Homola, who spent last term with Turkish side Malatyaspor.

World Cup duty
Sparta coach Stanislav Griga is still without centre-back Václav Drobný, who is recovering from ankle surgery, while three of his players have been on duty at the FIFA World Cup - goalkeeper Jaromír Blažek and Switzerland forward Mauro Lustrinelli as players, and midfielder Martin Hašek as a television pundit.

Slovakian signing
Champions Liberec, meanwhile, have once more headed for Slovakia in search of talent. Gifted Under-21 international midfielder Daniel Rehák has arrived from ŠK Šala, signing a four-year contract to join countrymen Peter Šinglár, Ivan Hodúr and Juraj Ančic at the U Nisy stadium.

New coaches
Two sides will start the 2006/07 campaign with new coaches. FC Viktoria Plzeň have taken Michal Bílek from relegated FC Chmel Blšany to succeed František Straka, who has left for Austria's FC Wacker Tirol. Slovácko, meanwhile, will play under 33-year-old Jiří Plíšek who previously coached Bosnia-Herzegovnian outfit NK Željezničar.

Poborský returns
Finally, the First Division will welcome back one of its favourite sons as SK Dynamo České Budějovice return to the élite after a one-year absence along with their 34-year-old star and co-owner Karel Poborský. FC Kladno are the other promoted side. They have spent 36 years in the lower leagues but were one of the big Czechoslovakian clubs before World War II.

I can't believe I'm seeing Gaucho as a possible departure for Slavia. He scored 7 goals for Slavia in like 10 games, more than any other player. They need to find the way to keep him if they're serious about contending. But knowing Slavia, probably not...

KLADNO SIGN CAP, PALSA, KOUSAL
Kladno have signed three new players ahead of the new season, picking up midfielder Tomas Cap from Mlada Boleslav, defender Vladislav Palsa from the Slovak club Trencin, and forward Miloslav Kousal from Plzen. All three have signed two-year contracts with the Gabmrinus Liga newcomers.

Kladno have also secured the services of on-loan goalkeeper Petr Vasek for another year, even though Vasek had initially returned to Banik Ostrava in the summer. Kladno are also reportedly close to taking Sparta Praha goalkeeper David Bicik on loan for the new season.

SIGMA LOAN SULTES TO OPAVA, SIGN DRNOVICE’S LICKA
Sigma Olomouc have loaned forward Pavel Sultes to second division SFC Opava, on a one-year deal. As a replacement, Sigma have bought young forward Martin Licka from Drnovice. Licka, who scored for Olomouc in the weekend friendly tournament in Nova Vcelnice, has signed a three-year deal.

BOLESLAV’S RYCHLIK JOINS RUZOMBEROK
Jiri Rychlik has joined Slovak champions Ruzomberok from Mlada Boleslav. The 28-year-old left-sided defender has signed a two-year deal.

SLAVIA SIGN BLSANY’S VOREL ON LOAN
In their first major transfer deal of the summer, Slavia Praha have taken Jan Vorel on loan from second division Chmel Blsany. The 27-year-old defender, who began training with Slavia yesterday, has joined the Prague club on a one-year loan, with option. According to Slavia coach Karel Jarolim, Vorel will add experience to the team, and as well as playing in defence can also slot into the midfield.

SPARTA TRIAL FOR FRENCH MIDFIELDER SYLVESTRE
Sparta Praha are giving a trial to Ludovic Sylvestre, a French midfielder who made two league appearances for Barcelona last season. The 22-year-old joined the Sparta squad on Tuesday and yesterday played for the team in a friendly game against second division Banik Sokolov. But Sylvestre, who was released by Barca at the end of the season, admitted that while he’s considering a move to Sparta, his manager is also in contact with clubs in France, the Netherlands, and Spain.

POBORSKY TO PLAY ON
Thirty-four-year-old Karel Poborsky has decided to continue his playing career with Dynamo Ceske Budejovice, according to team coach Frantisek Cipro. “In the last few days, Karel Poborsky has decided that he will continue playing at club level,” Cipro told the media. Poborsky, who partly owns the club, will also remain Budejovice’s general director. It remains unclear, however, whether Poborsky - the most capped Czech international of all time - will continue playing for the national team.

Sparta signal intent
Tuesday, 18 July 2006
by Josef Ladislav
from Prague

With the national team enduring a disappointing FIFA World Cup, attention in the Czech Republic turns once more to the domestic scene with AC Sparta Praha the busiest club in the transfer market so far ahead of the new season.

Sparta strengthen
Last season’s fifth-placed side have already brought back two players from Turkey as they look for an improvement this time around. Striker Tomáš Jun has returned home after an unsuccessful season spent with Trabzonspor and Beşiktaş JK, the Czech international moving to Sparta on a one-year loan deal. Central defender Jirí Homola has also returned to Prague after a year at Malatyaspor. Up front, Sparta have strengthened their attacking options by bringing in Zdenìk Pospìch on loan from FC Slovan Liberec while 22-year-old French midfielder Ludovic Sylvestre is on trial from FC Barcelona.

Packed midfield
Liberec have retained most of the top players that guided them to the championship last season with only Pospìch and Martin Abrahám departing so far. Joining the squad in the defence of their crown are a new trio of midfielders; Jiří Liška from relegated FC Vysočina Jihlava, Tomáš Frejlach from FC Marila Príbram and Daniel Rehák from ŠK Šala.

European assault
Last season’s runners-up FK Mladá Boleslav have reinforced their squad too as they prepare for an assault on the UEFA Champions League. Abrahám arrives from Liberec alongside striker Petr Mikolanda from English side West Ham United FC and experienced defender Jan Riegel from Príbram. They should all make their European bows for the club against Vålerenga IF in the second preliminary round of Europe’s premier club competition.

Slavia signings
SK Slavia Praha, who play in the UEFA Cup this season, welcome Under-21 international defender Martin Latka back from a loan spell at Birmingham City FC while midfielder Tomáš Michálek is on trial at the club and available on free transfer. Other significant moves in the Czech Republic have seen forward Jan Rezek arrrive at FC Viktoria Plzen after a season in the Russian second division while another striker, Tomáš Pešír, has been snapped up by FK SIAD Most from relegated FK Chmel Blšany. The 2006/07 season begins on 29 July.
