Ice hockey thread

Our extraliga finished but the best have yet to come. NHL playoffs and WC in Latvia.

repre:
We had one of the worst tournaments of the Czech history in the past days in Sweden. However the team going to Riga should be a bit different. It doesn't really matter the result, it was just about the individual performances. We will see who will join the guys. With elimination of Rangers Petr Průcha, Michal Rozsíval and Petr Sýkora should be free, they should help a lot. I will make more comments later...

nhl:
Jágr was at one moment an absolute king of the season. Many people expected him to win Art Ross trophy, Hart trophy and Maurice Richard trophy. However Cheechoo and Thornton stole him 2 of those 3. And then Jágr's Rangers were demolished by in-form Devils. Plus he is injured again. Unlucky end of the season for him.

Patrik Eliáš - that's another story. Hescored 2 more goals today and he's a scoring leader of the play-off's with 4GP 11P (5+6).

Nice to see Edmonton winning against Detroit 3-2.

Elias simply rocks, there's nothing more to say. He is on the best way to bring Devils to the Stanley Cup and win the MVP award for him.

I quite liked Sabres earlier, but now it seems Philadelphia will be too hard for them.

I'd also like Tampa to go to next round, I'm not the biggest fan of both Ottawa and Hasek.

Still a very long way to go though...

I like Ottawa but not because of Hasek ofcourse.

I saw them few times in regular season, and I've always been impressed by their offensive

7 Czechs play for Rangers but only one of them will be available for the WC - Petr Prucha. Also no player from Tampa tp take part.

Ottawa is looking strong!

Colorado and San Jose are through to next round. Pity, I liked more both Nashville and Dallas. And Caroliano and Buffalo are in 3-2 lead against Philly and Montreal. I hope at least Buffalo can keep it, this playoffs they are "my team".

What's wrong with Hasek? Is he generally not popular anymore in Czech Rep. I sat right next to him on a plane one time and thought he was a bit odd.

Erat will join NT for the world cup while Prucha won't.

Hasek did some not so nice things in the past, including injure a player during in-line hockey match.

Edmonton won, also thanks to two goals of Hemsky, against Red Wings and is thru to next round

Nothing is wrong with Hasek. I respect him as an ice-hockey legend, fantastic goalkeeper!

But I'm not one of those who support a club only because a great player of their country play there. I don't like this kind of fans...

I support Parma because I love the club, the city, the players, everything. And I love Smicer, Jankulovski, Ujfalusi... but it's not a reason for me to start to support their respective clubs.

That's all.

WC starting tomorrow but I'll be studying probably and won't watch. Looking forward to Sunday - formula1 and then Bohemians 1905 - Strizkov.

It'S a shame Calgary didn't get through. It would of been a nice derby Edmonton-Calgary...

3-1 with Norway. Well apparently we're not the favourites this time. We better don't play Russia or Canada. On the other hand we've won quite a few times the important matches when we weren't favourites, so I still believe in us. But our play is far from being optimal.

New Jersey - Carolina 0-3, will they lose even the 4th?

This afternoon against Russia, let's hope we can do it. And i trust our guy they will, we just need a bit of luck, and if the players will play on maximum, then we will beat them. maybe 5-2 for us

In NHL, last four teams are quite surprising for me, now i will suport Edmonton to win it, i like Ryan Smyth there

Nah, finishing second is very nice. But losing in final is always so sad.

I would like to see Edmonton win it as well but Carolina will win 4-2 IMO. But hopefully not.

I'll take Carolina in 6. They have more experienced and proven players like Weight, Recchi, Brindamour, Stillman. Would be quite a story if Oilers won, I think first time number 8 seed winning the Cup.
