Official Gambrinus Liga Thread

Sigma Olomouc 2 Zlin 0
Slavia Praha 2 Zizkov 0
Teplice 1 Sparta Praha 1
Pribram 4 Jablonec 1

Nice win by Sigma against rivals Zlin. I am impressed that they managed to score two goals. Perhaps this year they will not struggle as much up front. Vlcek and Siegl got the goals for Sigma.

Sigma played pretty god match and as I expected atck Vyskocil - Babnic did well. Star of the game (is it definite end of his personal problems) was Ales Urbanek who made two briliant assist for Sigma´ goals.

Slavia dominated against Zizkov.

Sarta had real problems against Teplice. Grygera missed a lot...

After 4 matches of the first round, Slavia looks magnificent! Sparta has to find creative midfielder and better replacement for Grygera (Petras is not optimal solution). Then, they could think about victories...

I have every season different favourite team. Why? I live far away from any team. Second reason is that I always supported underrated teams. But in our country underrated team usually shines only one year and in the following is relegated... :-( And I am not excited by big clubs here.

So I hate Sparta and Zizkov but I like Slavia, Marila Pribram and Brno. Brno is my favourite now as there are good underrated players like Pacanda, Dosek, Svancara or Shuster...

FORZA PARMA!

Final score from today....

Ostrava 3 Ceske Budejovice 1

I believe Synot on Liberec play their first round games during the second week of August.

Bresciano.... what ever happened to that American with Sparta Praha? Did he get cut?

He is back in USA but he will travel back to Czech republic very soon! He is 20 years old, super fast but really needs some time to improve.

Sparta also wants to get some player from River Plate for free but we still don´t know who...

Sigma: Rather be called here Sigma or Jamesson? * Have you got a chance to watch czech league in USA?

Sigma is fine...

No, I don't get to see any games in Canada. However, I met a Bosnian at a Toronto Lynx game (pro team in Canada) and he gave me a copy of the Sigma at Sarajevo UEFA Cup match from last year. This is the only video I have of Sigma!

Sigma looks fine. Urbánek is back in his superb form like he was 2,5 years ago!!! Protagonista no.1! Slavia is the best now!

Sparta? Real troubles. 1 victory, 2 draws...

Shit, a defeat for Ceske Budejovice...

Are Ceske weakened or strengthened compared to last season? It was nice they stayed in the division...

Žižkov...?

Anyone kind to give me some info about FK Viktoria Žižkov?

My club Brøndby will play them in the 1st round of the UEFA Cup.

Cheers

Viktoria Žižkov is not traditional czech club. They have never won any league title, no cups. Club is now in the best period of club' history. 2 years ago they battled for the title, 4 last years they reguarly play UEFA cup. Always ended in 1st or 2nd round.

Žižkov is typical defensive team, good tacticaly, often scoring from free kicks or corners. Best player is Pikl (no.14) and striker Oravec (no.9).

I guess chances are 50:50

Thank you very much! Took a while for the answer to show up, but better late than never, I guess.

I have a question. I see Zizkov is currently 9th, right, and I thought it might have something to do with sales of players from last season. Am I completely off, or what?

No. No moves there. Absolutely same team, same coach, same team format. The reason? They are not in form...

Last post on Zizkov...

Viktoria have incredible small number of supporters. Average attendance is about 1.200 spectators. In whole country, it is the most hated club as we all think that they reguarly buy matches. (highest number of penalties in injury time, 6 or more last season?) Czech fans really want to see Slavia and Liberec going throw but Zizkov? Nobody is really interested...

Forza Grygera e Galásek!

I can asure you, we'll try our best to defeat Zizkov. Don't worry.

Grygera and Galásek ... hell yeah!

I'm really looking forward to see how Grygera will do in Ajax - such a talented defender will fit right in.
Galásek is already an important player for Ajax - invaluable almost.

Cheers.

CB are very weak side. They fight for survive in every match. I guess they will stay after all but this regional small team won´t never reach better half of the league table.

Sparta and Slavia are still on 5th - 6th place, how interesting. Banik Ostrava with huge attendances still in the lead.

Our famous derby Sparta - Slavia finished 0-0. I was there.

Any update on the coach front in Zizkov?

Have they found a new coach?

The coach is called Hradecký. He had been assistent of former coach Lavicka until he left the club. Now he leads Žižkov but the results don´t come.

0-0 this weekend at home.

Thanks for the (great!) info.

I see they're still struggling with poor results ...
