Al-Ahly win the league for the 4th year on the trot

#33 added to the already packed trophy cabinet in the club's HQ at El Gezira.

A goalless draw away to Baladeyet El Mahalla today sufficed to mathematically assure Al-Ahly of retaining the domestic crown with 5 weeks to spare. Unbeaten so far in 25 matches, the Red devils boast both the best attack and best defence of the Championship.

It was only a matter of time, really.. Sadly there was no competition whatsoever, yet again (double digits gap over 2nd place...). Even when we're not in great form we still cruise. Oh well, you can only beat who you play.

Looking forward to what truly matters now - the African Champions League.

Indeed p :smileani:, though sadly the team is clearly deteriorating year after year, but I can't blame our worn out Champions because Egypt is the sole country in the world where one season is being played after the other without proper breaks or pre-season. If we're not playing in the local league or Cup, it's the Continental club tournament, which mind you starts near the end of the domestic season (last 16 next weekend).. Not to mention the NT, which encompases 5-6 Ahly players.. The NT will play 4 WC Qualifiers in June and the ACL group phase (providing we make it) starts in July.. then you have the 08/09 league campaign starting in August..

The only chance to grant the players a breather lies in the remaining league games now that we have nothing to play for.

Don't worry, they're pretty much resigned to their inferiority nowadays.

Didn't I just mention that? focus man.

Re: yes. 7 Al-Ahly players featured for Egypt in the final of the 2006 ACN and 5 in the 2008 final.

Maybe all that is something that both have in common but Mourinho will never he half the man that Manuel José is. You know why? Principles, respect for your opponent, fair-play. Manuel José knows what these are. Mourinho doesn't.

Hmm, he must've experienced a big change when he moved over to Egypt then. I love the man to bits but respecting opponents and fair-play?

In fact only yesterday he shouted "**** you" at a match official for not awarding a penalty (it was a clear one) and then made signs with his hands implying that the ref was bribed. Not only that, but he once did the offensive arm gesture after we scored a goal v ASEC in the CAF CL.

I didn't say Manuel José was a saint but all that that you are telling me were the daily routines of Mourinho when he was a coach in Portugal, mainly at the Porto scum...not mentioning the fact that he was involved himself in bribing and match-fixing.
