Ahmed Hassan to RSC Anderlecht

He'll soon do his medical tests and sign a 2-year contract with an option to a third year. However here and there it is suggested that he will have to play on the right wing. Can he handle that, because I always thought he's a playmaker.

He's always been playing on the right wing for Egypt so he has alot of experience there and can do it well.

Is the deal definate?

Great move if you ask me...

Anderlecht happen to be the biggest club in Belgium and they'll be playing in the UCL next season seeing as they won their domestic league. Mido and Ghaly both missed out on Champions league football :frustrat: so having Ahmed there as a representative of the Champions of Africa makes up for some lost ground.

Speaking of which - we need more players travelling to play abroad.

Ahmed Hassan is versatile. Not only that he can play as a right winger (his natural position) but he used to occupy a right-back role for the national team in the past and did fairly well, though Ahmed did mention that he didn't feel comfortable playing there. He can play as a playmaker or a central midfielder as well. Not a player with a great physical presence but a fighter and very intelligent which compensates for his lack of muscle.

Very good at taking penalties, and has a powerful shot on him. Scored some great goals in the past ( goals against Libya in an African Nations Cup qualifier from a neat lob and a belter vs. the Danes in a friendly come to mind )

Last but not least - He captained our national team in the African Nations Cup. He was chosen as the tournament's MVP. Although in all honesty there were other Egyptian players (as well as Eto'o, for one) who clearly outperformed him.

Thanks to the both of you. The deal is 90% definate. Hassan travels to Brussels on Monday, does the medical (and psychological) tests and if those are ok he wil sign the contract.

And since today Ahmed Hassan is officially an Anderlecht player:

And that's one of the reasons I don't cheer for this transfer. 31 year olds, a player who only plays well in the big games, ...

Hopefully he proves that I was wrong ...

He had been playing in Turkey for something like 7 years so I really had watched him numerous times. IMO the best position for him to play is as an attacking midfielder just behind the striker. His greatest talent is to make himself forget around the box and score unexpected goals. He really has a knack for scoring crucial goals but apart from that I agree that he sometimes does not contribute at all.. I think it is good to have him in your squad; he really can prove useful as a sub that can alter things when u need it. But will he accept such a role thats the problem. He is the kind of player who will always want to start.

I beg to differ on this notion that he goes missing in games. Yes, he is talented but I think what makes him special is he always puts in the effort big time. Every time I see him he is the hardest working guy on the pitch.

Well, yesterday we played our first official game of the season (well game, the game was suspended after 45 minutes due to the rain). Ahmed was great ... What do I say ? No, Ahmed was GOD ! Great technical skills, hard working, unexpected shots from outside the area. The only thing I can complain abou is that he has missed 2 chances.

This weekend he scored his first goal for Anderlecht, on penalty

Thx to his goal we won 1-0 We're top of the league with 6 points out of 2 games, while other the other title candidates already lost some points (Bruges 3 points, Standard 0 points).

Hassan celebrating the 1-0 with Maroccan international Mbark Boussoufa.

Yesterday Anderlecht played the top game against Club Brugge, and won, with 1-0. Mémé Tchité scored the goal, which was assisted by ... Ahmed Hassan.

His way of playing really suits at Anderlecht, as we are known as a team which is technically very well.

But his performances aren't really regular. As far he has played 2 good games, and 2 less good (the 2 after the Egypt friendly against Uruguay). But still, he can decide a game with one action, which is a nice gift

Kepping in head that he was free, has a lot of experience, and that he can decide a game with 1 good action, I'll call his transfers quite ok this far. But still I'm wondering which Hassan we are going to see in the winter time, when it's raining hard, when it's really cold, or even snowing

I like him a lot: he plays straightforward, nothing fancy but he's been quite efficient.
