Ghaly to Tottenham???

Tottenham set to sign Feyenoord's Ghaly
tribalfootball.com - January 31, 2006

Tottenham are set to land Feyenoord midfielder Hossam Ghaly.
Tottenham manager Martin Jol has been chasing Feyenoord midfielder Ghaly, 24, for months and had to fight off late interest from London rivals Arsenal.

Ghaly was in London yesterday for a medical and has agreed personal terms of around 16,000 a week.

The Egyptian earned rave reviews in Holland with Feyenoord and Dutchman Jol used his home country connections to persuade him to sign for Spurs.

Ghaly and Mido in one team, very interesting...

Let's see if Ghaly will adapt to the high pace of English football. He needs to get rid of his annoying habit of ball-hogging. In England they don't keep the ball for more than a couple of seconds while he tends to hold it for a minute or so...

Tottenham chief delighted to land Feyenoord's Ghaly
tribalfootball.com - February 1, 2006

Tottenham have completed the signing of Feyenoord midfielder Hossam Ghaly.

The Egyptian has penned a four-and-a-half year contract with Spurs and sporting director Damien Comolli told the club's website: "I have watched Hossam since he was 17.

"He is a versatile, very physical and technically gifted midfielder who will offer us a number of playing options. He's a terrific addition to the squad."

Ghaly had previously been linked with Tottenham's north London rivals Arsenal.

Despite winning 19 international caps, Ghaly was not selected to be part of the Egypt squad currently competing in the African Cup of Nations.

tribalfootball and BBC should get their facts straight. He wasnt selected because he's injured, not because he's not good enough.

Mido delighted Egypt pal Ghaly now at Spurs
tribalfootball.com - February 22, 2006

Mido is delighted to have fellow Egypt international Hossam Ghaly as a Tottenham teammate.

Striker Mido was away on African Nations Cup duty when Ghaly was signed from Feyenoord and is happy to now call his countryman a club teammate.

"First of all I was very happy when I heard that Spurs had signed Ghaly," Mido told Tottenham's official website. "Not just because he is my friend, I really think that we have signed a great player with a good mentality as a professional.

"Hossam is a strong lad in the middle of the park, he has a great technique, supplies good balls and is strong in the air. He is a very good player.

"People in Egypt will care even more about Spurs now we have a second Egyptian player."

Tottenham's Ghaly in training
tribalfootball.com - March 3, 2006

Tottenham signing Hossam Ghaly began training this week - with only nine senior pros at Spurs Lodge because of international commitments.

Spurs coach Chris Hughton says it was the perfect scenario for Egypt international Ghaly, explaining to the club's website: "You get good work done and they are all at different stages.

"An example would be Hossam Ghaly - who is very much back in training now - and we need to get him to a stage where he is back to match fitness.

"There have been players still here, the likes of Michael Dawson, Edgar Davids, Danny Murphy and Mido. It has been a good enough working group, but what you are always working towards is the next game and what we have had is many players away on international duty.

"You are not quite sure how they will come through and there is always the fear that one or two of them will come back injured. We are the same as everyone else in that respect.

"Sometimes when you have a smaller group you are able to do more specific work. You can put on sessions that are more demanding and you can get some hard work in."

Ghaly makes Spurs debut
tribalfootball.com - March 15, 2006

January signing Hossam Ghaly made his Tottenham debut on Monday night in the reserves win over Portsmouth.

The Egypt international was given an hour, as was Dean Marney, who has recovered from injury received while away on-loan.

"I have been training with the team, I am not feeling pain anymore and feel fit," Ghaly told the Spurs website.

"To play games? I haven't played for two months now so I will probably have to take it slowly, train more with the team and play with the reserves for one or two games."
