CL round 4 - Ajax vs. Ahly & EST vs. Zamalek

2 in 1 thread

Too lazy to create a couple of threads for those two matches. One should do IMHO. Plus I'm saving precious bandwidth.

If we manage to win tomorrow we'll officially qualify to the semi-finals, in first place A draw wouldn't be bad either. Jose has a full squad to choose from apart from Barakat who isn't fully fit so he'll start from the bench like against ENPPI in the Super Cup.

Esperance Vs. Zamalek promises to be a great game, as both teams are tied at 3 points each and need a win.

Etoile won today in Sousse ( whoa, someone won :eekani: ) and they top the group, with ASEC languishing in 4th place.

Enyimba will host Raja in what happens to be a do or die game for the reigning champs. Win or...bust.

Good luck to Ahly and...Taraji, of course.

Ajax 0-0 Ahly

Fair result eventhough the Angolan ref denied us a crystal clear penalty in the first half after Meteb was hacked down by their goalie.

We didn't play well overall. Our defence looked vulnerable at times, especially in the second half when Ajax threatened us on the break.

Meteb squandered a lot of chances, he's back to his favourite habit it seems...

Taraji 1 - 2 Zamalek

Pretty entertaining match actually, good performance by both teams in specific periods of the game.

Congrats AC ! Eventhough I seriously doubt that they'd make it to the final anyway after the departures of Ahmed Hossam, Alaa Abdel Ghany and El Sherbeeny Antar. They didn't sign any quality players so...

Yup.

Zamalek played well for the most part. I'm really impressed with their new signing, Junior. He's something that fellow. Ibrahim Said also played very well. Calling him up to the National team is only a matter of time, IMO.

Their defence though needs a lot of work because tonight Taraji could've scored more if not for their inaccuracy infront of goal. All good. p

Now Zamalek need a victory at home against ASEC in two weeks time to assure themselves of a semi-final place.

oh btw Enyimba managed to beat Raja 2-0 in Aba.

That's how both groups stand at the moment.

Group A

Al Ahly 10 +4
Enyimba 4 0
Raja 4 -2
Ajax 3 -2

Group B

Zamalek 6 +1
Etoile 6 +1
ASEC 3 0
Esperance 3 0

Ajax 3 -2

With two games left I believe Ahly could only lose the first place, they are through to the semi-final.

Assume both Enyimba and Rajaa beat Ahly with a score of 2-0 or more, isn't Ahly out of the quarters?

I thought Ahly played twice with Enymba not once. Anyway that dose not really change the fact that Ahly advanced, I see it as impossible to for them to lose twice with the same result 2-0 away and at home!
