Sadly batouty my Arabic is pathetic - I understand a few word here and there. And I keep saying every year that I'm going to take Arabic night classes to sort that out and fail miserably each time. But I'm giving myself a time limit, if I want to start my PhD in Sept. 2006 then I have to have at least basic/intermediate Arabic as I will have to Arabic for my PhD and they stick you on some evil intensive course and I don't want to start that with my Arabic as non-existent as it is now. So this Sept I have to join a class, no excuses.
Sabry, thanks for all your help recently
I'll send you a Villa shirt as a thank you present
As for touristy stuff in Egypt, I loved doing all the sightseeing and I have to go back to Cairo as I didn't get to see everythig I wanted to. I want to find the Fatimid houses in the Khan al-Khalili this time (managed to miss them last time), go inside Al-Azhar (I opted for Imam Husayn Mosque last time), go back to the Pyramids and do them properly when I am not dragging annoying, uninterested and boring Iraqi around with me, go back to the Citadel which blew me away, go into Salah al-Din square and not just see if from the Citadel, go to Sakarah, go to the Coptic quarter on a day when the museum is open and see the Nag al-Hammadi texts. Also want to go to Luxor and see the temples etc. In fact, pretty much everything again
Sabry, if you go back to Sharm, forget the hotels and crap, go to Mount Sinai and St. Catherine's Monastery. Absolutely amazing. Well worth the 4 hr or so climb to the top of the mountain to see sunrise and the monestry was beautiful.
