Friendly - Saudi Arabia Vs EGYPT - March 14th 2005

Last friendly before the crucial Libya game will take place on March 14th in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Of course we all remember the last game between the two teams, and I'm hoping we can make a good score to prove our strength. Overall Im expecting to see a hype game from both sides, they should give us a good game since they are both the top teams in the region. And with Egypt's current form, Im optimistic we can get a good score.

The Saudi's are one million time weaker than the last time you guys played them, I think its gonna be 3 or 4-0.

Vamos Argentina!

Yeah well if we look at current form of both teams and their recent results, Egypt should easily win the game. But in such Arab derbies, you never know whats gonna happen.

It's just a friendly. We'll probably get one half of good football, then in the second half the coaches will try out different combinations.

Yeah I expect the same thing, and its gonna be a good preperation for both team's world cup qualifying campaigns. But im pretty sure the managers/players/fans will consider the result since its a sensative game.

Egypt's squad for Saudi

It's been announced that NONE of Egypt's European-based players will be available for the Saudi friendly

Since the match (Monday) doesn't fall into the international calender, their European clubs are hesitant to release them.

I'm still confident a local squad is stronger than the Saudi team, but a few hours ago, it was said that several of our best local players will not play due to injury.

Emad Moteb is probably the biggest local name missing. He was Egypt's leading scorer at the last World Youth Championship, and he scored 2 goals in the recent friendlies against South Korea and Belgium.

Supposedly he's healthy enough to play, but they want to rest him for the March 27th World Cup qualifier against Libya.

I was really looking forward to seeing Mohammed Zidan and Mido as our strikers against Saudi.. but instead it looks like it's gonna be Amr Zaki and Abdel Haleem Ali...These are Egypt's 5th and 6th choice strikers.

These developments have started to worry me for the match... I was feeling pretty confident before all of this news

Well at the end of the first half, Egypt is dominating.

However, Mabrook Zayed the Saudi keeper is a monster, he must have blocked 3 or 4 gauranteed goals so far.

Good game from both teams (so far).

Easy match for the Egyptians really, if it was not for Zayed the margin would have been greater.

Nice match for the Egyptians because the Libyans will actually copy the Saudi style of defending and counter attacking the whole match with better quality players like El-Tayeb.

Vamos Argentina!

An impressive display from the boys especially in the first half that was embarrassingly one sided.
