No, we saw your team wrestling especially that dirty defender you have, did he actually go out in to that match and want to try and kill all our strikers???

Amoreirinha should get a severe ban from UEFA.

well you never know - he is only 18 and he can turn out to be better or much worst. Its just better how we see his progress instead of put him under pressure!!!

I had more hope with Cipriani to be honest but his injury was a killer blow. Now at Piacenza in serie B, I'd like to see how he does there, hes still only 22/23 so has time to recover. Della Rocca will be good no doubt, but way too early to say yet.

The commentator said that he should have got 2 red cards for stamping on the face of one of our players and kicking directly at the back of this Pazzini guy.

Happy that the young guys have won the U19 championship.

BTW, they all look really strong and very mature as adult players...

That's fun... I tought Chielini was one of the best on the field for Italy, especially in the first half. I missed the begining of the seoncd half tough. He took initiatives and beated his man a couple of times.

all in all was the midfield good, closed all spaces and countered quite good.

In the end only memories remain.

Italy crowned U-19 Champions

Italy crowned U-19 Champions Saturday 26 July, 2003

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Italy’s Under-19 squad has been crowned Champions of Europe after beating Portugal 2-0 in the Final.

Bologna striker Luigi Della Rocca – a future target for Juventus – and Giampaolo Pazzini sealed the scoreline in the first half.

It was the first Azzurri success at this level and took back some of the heartache from the Under-18 European Championship Final lost to Portugal in 1999.

Della Rocca’s header from a Giorgio Chiellini centre and Atalanta youth player Pazzini’s tap-in were decisive in a game dominated by the Azzurri.

Portugal poured forward after the break, but it was to no avail as Italy end the competition having conceded just two goals in total.

Zanetti : I still remember my first day at Inter. I arrived with a plastic bag with my boots inside and I crossed the crowd of fans who were asking who I was. That's where it all started.....

OK this summer for the younger national teams:::::

Italy U20 four way tournament (started last winter)

Italy win it with winning every game

Switzerland 0-3 Italy
England 3-5 Italy
Italy 2-1 Germany
Germany 3-4 Italy
Italy 8-0 Switzerland
Italy 3-0 England

Toulon U20 tournament:
Group stage:
Italy 3-2 Mexico
Italy 1-1 Colombia
Italy 3-0 Burkina Faso
Italy 2-1 Poland

Final: Italy 1-3 Portugal :fero:

U19 european champs:
Group stage:
Italy 1-0 Norway
Italy 1-1 Portugal
Italy 5-1 Leichtenstein

Semi: Italy 1-0 Czech Rep
Final: Italy 2-0 Portugal

U17 european champs:
group stage: Italy 0-2 Spain
Italy 0-0 England
Italy 4-0 Israel

I call that a good summer, unlucky to go out in U17 - England made a comeback v Spain from 2 down to put Italy out. But winning the four way tournament including Germany and England so easily was fantastic then the more or less back-up U20 team reaching the U20 final of toulon was good. U19 round off a good summer with winning the euro champs!!!!

Campione!

It was a great performance from the boys. They got better as the tournament progressed. They thoroughly deserved it as well. I got a bit worried from arrogance when Pazzini (correct me Deafnio or JLP cause I think I am incorrect) said that Italy were the better side and should get over the line easily but I guess his prediction was right

It's a shame I was not able to view the matches in the tournament because it was definetely worth a watch. Hopefully now the team are able to qualify for the Under 20 World Championships in 2005

Was King Italy..

Actually it was Aquilani.

"They are really a strong team but we are better than them," Aquilani said. "We shouldn't be worried about them because we can win."

Yes JLP is right, Aquilani is also cocky as well, seems like a Totti in the making but from a deeper position.

Italian U19 national team manger Paolo Berretini:

"I have lead a fantastic group that won three titles before getting to the final phase in these European championships. Four or five of these players will probably go on directly to the Under 21 team and this is something I really hope will happen. Aquilani, Della Rocca, Ferronetti, Pazzini and Mantovani are the stars of the future. I am ready to bet on their success."
