BIH - TURSKA POD ISTRAGOM?

Piše: A. Beganović
Petak, 27.11.09. 18:00.

The media is speculating on all kind of games these days. Having seen that game, it would come as a shock if there was something fishy about it.

I don't know what to say... I don't understand who would have been involved. Turkey sure wasn't about to sell it, but they needed nothing less than a win, so if we "sold" it then we did a God-awful job. Who would've sold that game? Spahic, Salihovic, Rahimic, Misimovic, Ibisevic and Dzeko don't need the money. That leaves Ibricic, Muratovic, Nadarevic, Jahic and Supic in the starting line-up. Maybe I'm naive, but I just can't see any of them selling the game.

FK Sarajevo

- Bosnian-Herzegovinian (BiH) club with the most Yugoslav championships
- BiH club with the most appearances and longest continuous stay in top flight football
- The most succesful BiH club on the Yugoslav league's all-time table
- The most succesful club on the BiH Premier League's all-time table
- BiH club with the most appearances in international and UEFA competition

Džarovski: Baraž je sigurno bio namješten

Piše: O. Škundrić
Petak, 27.11.09. 19:38.

Ever since we lost to Portugal, alot of bizarre things have been going on, .

- Misimovic & Ciro arguing..both quitting at some point..and coming back
- FA in trouble, Usanovic & Kures in jail
- Travnik - Sion game investigation for match-fixing
- Bosnia - Turkey investigation for match-fixing
- Misimovic kicked in the balls, Dzeko cleated in the face, Salihovic cleated on his foot...no reds.. players getting tortured in Germany
- Commercialism, media, etc. destroying national team's professionalism & concentration
- Ibrakovic has problems with Velez board, media says he got fired..others say he's still there
- Spalevic & Pelak are kicked out of Olimpik because of controversy of throwing away games
- League got busted for match-fixing
- Mirvic thrown out of the airplane because he wouldn't stop talking

What more

It's inevitable that there will be big scandals in football because of the huge ammounts of money that is involved in the betting offices. I don't see how our game with Turkey was possibly sold though. We certainly didn't do it because Turkey needed a win and nothing else and I refuse to believe that we bribed the Turks

Seeing all the chances and bad luck in front of goal for both sides also shows that this game wasn't fixed.

Football was a much better sport in the 90's, looking at how corporate the game has become today and the way in which FIFA acts before/after games just makes me sick.

The 90s were the dying breath... all the problems that are currently around the game were already well under way by the mid 90s. I think Red Star's victory in '91 was in some ways the end of an era.

I could scarcely agree more. Historically, that might be seen as a peak. So few interesting teams have come along since then - BiH are one of them, imho.

FIFA are angels compared to UEFA, though, if you are talking about malign corporatisation.

The English FA, of course, are in a league all of their own :rollani:

Perhaps for the former Yugoslavia but not for the rest of the world. Euro 1996 and the World Cup in 1998 were great tournaments IMO. Also, the Champions League was a much more friendlier place to Eastern European teams than today's format, Hajduk Split got to the quarter finals in 1995 and Dynamo Kiev done remarkably well to reach the semis in 1999. When compared to the 90's - todays football is far less competitive and much more corporate.

It's too bad that we have a corrupt FA. It's about time we qualify for a tournament and get the recognition that we deserve as a footballing nation.
