Zlatan almost turned down the Swedish NT

Zlatan almost turned down the NT

"Ibra" tells he was once very close to turn down the Swedish NT in a big interview with "Sportmagasinet"

Zlatan's father Sefik worked long and active to get his son to play for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also Zlatan's youth coach Rasim Suljkic helped to persuade the BiH FA.

When Ibrahimovic was 17 years old he still possessed a BiH passport via Sefik contacted the BiH FA, but they turned down his services. "Sportmagasinet" has contacted the BiH FA who confirms the information. "He was here with his father and today you might think we should have done more to persuade him to play with us" says Ahmet Pasalic.

Two years later the BiH NT contacted Ibrahimovic instead, and offered him to go on a winter tournament in India with the BiH development NT, But this time it was Ibrahimovic who turned them down.

"Sportmagasinet" has taken part of the "BiH Dani" interview with Ibrahimovic, where he explains - I asked: "where is Salihamidzic, Baljic, Barbarez, Hibic, Bolic?". I said: "Either the a-team or nothing". I don't have megalomania, but I know my value.

Ibrahimovic has even later expressed his will to play for the BiH NT. During his time at Ajax a new interview with "BiH Dani" was made, where he gave the expression he wanted to change to a BiH passport again.
- It would be great to be able to play for BiH, I would have played for them at once, but it's to late. Now I have to concentrate on other things.

.......................................

I have known this for a very long time since I have followed him for years, just thought it might be interesting for those who doesn't know.

Ibrahimovic was also contacted by the Croatian FA once, I will see if I can find that article again.
