---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First remember the changes for the qualifying for World Cup 2006.

There will be 8 groups. There will be 3 groups with 7 countries, and 5 groups with 6 countries.

The top teams in each group qualify automatically, and so do the 2 best second placed countries. So the 2 countries that are in second place and have the most points out of all the other 2nd place countries, get in automatically.

Then, the rest of the 2nd place countries ( 6 ) go to the playoff.

13 in total will make it from Europe.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For us, we are still in Pot D.
We will once again get stuck with some good teams.

In your opinion, what is best draw we could have, and the worst ?

Remember the mino countries make up the rest of the teams put into the groups (11), to make up the 7 and 6 in each group.

Here is my opinion on the best and worst draws for us:

Best (In brackets, 2nd teams that would be best)

Turkey (England, Italy, Sweden)
Slovenia (Rep. of Ireland, Russia, Bulgaria)
Scotland (Slovakia, Switzerland, Ukrain)
BIH
Northern Ireland (Cyprus, Macedonia)

Worst (In brackets, 2nd teams that would be worst)

France (Czech Rep, Spain, Portugal)
Holland (Croatia, Denmark, Belgium)
Greece (Yugoslavia, Romania, Switzerland)
BIH
Estonia (Hungary, Lithuania, Georgia)

---------------

So just to explain, for the Best: Turkey would be my 1st choice to be in our group out of Pot A, but England, Italy, Sweden, would be 2nd choices)

For the worst, same thing: France would be the worst draw for us, and any of those other 3, would be bad as well, right after France.

i reckon the sides to avoid in the first three pots are france, holland and romania

but looking at that list there arent too many REALLY bad teams so itll be tough whatever the draw is

i presume the likes of luxembourg, faroes, san marino etc will be allocated to groups as well

Damn, Serbia's in pot C

I'll be copy-pasting your post ED

Anyways, IMO Bosnia should not fear any of the teams in Pot C (although they are all very respectable opponnents and any one of them can defeat BiH, but same goes the other way around), and the same goes for the Pot B teams, including Holland, although obivously this is the tougher group of teams. For Pot A you'd probably be best off going against Sweden or maybe England.

I think Turkey are abit overrated.

It's always fun to play teams that are overconfident.

I think when they got that far in the WC, a lot of it had to do with the surprise factor. Obviously they have a strong team too, but I believe a lot of people took them for granted going in.

Presently though, I dont think they are any better than a lot of the teams in Pot 3 and 4.

We did have a friendly with them not too long ago as well and we won 3-1 I think it was, with full lineups.

The best thing about Turkey are their fight and their strong goaltending IMO.

I agree though Sweden and England would not be bad either.

Ed,

May I ask where you got this information? I looked on the FIFA web site and can't find anything.

One guy on xtratime got it from a different forum, he didn't say witch.

And we all here have pretty much copied it into our own forums.

Thanks to Cengo, from the Turkish forum:

Here are the seedings:

http://sport.supereva.it/eurocup/coeff.htm?p

The way they come up with the seedings ?

They take the last 2 qualifications (WC and Euro), they take the number of points you got combined and divide it by the number of games.

If we had done abit better in the World Cup 2002 Qualifying, we could have been in Pot 3.
