HSK Zrinjski 2003/4

Finally the HŠK Zrinjski uprava has gotten a few things together. We've started our preperations and have organised a few friendlies with other BiH and Croatian clubs.

Zrinjski has a lot at stake this season and is also preparing for the grueling BiH Liga. In a league where 5 points decide wheather you get a Euro spot or get relegated, Zrinjski have it all to play for.

So far Zrinjski have drawn with Sarajevo 0-0 away. In Kupres we lost to new Premierligas NK Travnik in a friendly 1-0.

The first real friendly was yesterday vs. Posusje where Zrinjski won 2-1 away with a full squad. This years new singings played brilliantly. Pomorac's Dubravko Zrilic and Dinamo's Davor Landeka played great, as did Zrinjski's Brazilians Ricardo Costa and Gilmar Barbasa, Barbasa scored the opener against Posusje.

The stadium is under intense repairs and 15,000 new seats are to be installed, they are to be white/red in traditional Zrinjski colours. The NSBiH finally gave Mostar the right of hosting night games so the lights are under renovations as well, and 3 weeks ago the old pitch was torn up and a new "carpet" layed out onthe Bijeli Brijeg stadium, it should be one of the best in the country (playing surface wise).

The competition is hard at the Mostar club where 5 goalkeepers compete for the no.1 position, among them U21 international Nikola Maric. There are 4-5 players for each spot on the list of 25, Zrinjski has never had this much competition for places. There are also some players from the 1.HNL on loan to the Mostar club.

With Zrinjski being Mostar's only premier team, we expect a good season and a lot of people at games next year. All in all, it looks set to be a good season, and I predicted Zrinjski in the top 5, I hope we can acheive this and go even better.

ps. The junior tournament I mentioned where Zrinjski won, we played 10 games and won all 10.

We beat Manchester, Bayern, Middlesborough, Barcelona, Inter in the semis (6-1 to Zrinjski) and Ajax in the final !

NAPRIJED ZRINJSKI MOSTAR !!

Zrinjski played its second game with a full squad and thumped Posusje 5-1 in Posusje.

I predict straight away that Posisje will get relegated this year, Their team hass been totally destroyed, everyone has left (not that they were that good anyway) and now they play with a bunch of young unexperienced boys.

That's the problem with the league.

Zrinjski played against Ljubuski and won 4-2, Gilberto Barbosa was the star of the show scoring a hattrick and assisting Zdrilic for an easy one.

We are playing another second div. team todaywith the young team plus a new Brazillian import who is supposedly better than the other two. No name yet but he's in Mostar after 2 seasons at Sau Paulo. Appearently a gifted attacking midfielder...plus Zrinjksi's board got it together, everyone has signed a contract and a large lump of wages has been payed out to players, bonuses to come.

NAPRIJED ZRINJSKI MOSTAR !!

don't know much about the BiH league, but I can say:

AJMO Zrinjski!!!

Još Hrvatska ni propala dok mi živimo,
visoko se bude stala kad ju zbudimo.
Ak je dugo tvrdo spala, jača hoće bit,
ak je sada u snu mala, će se prostranit.

Kao prvo, the team's called Săo Paulo and for all you know he was the waterboy 2 seasons cause I honestly doubt a 'gifted AM' from Brazil would move to a club like zrinjski, Dinamo ok, but not zrinjski.

So with these flops I predict in the end you finish just above the relegation line, cheers.

thanks for the correction, and isn't it a shame that other people's misery equals your eventual happiness?

I predict Zrinjski to do well finally, it was tough supporting the team while they continually put up average results...but now we can lok forward to happier days, and we didn't have to borrow players from neighbouring leagues to do so

We can expect nothing less from the oldest team in BiH, and from the capital of Hercegovina...

we'll see when the season starts...

Zrinjski will be happy to avoid relegation this year.
Sarajevo seem pretty strong and Leotar is always up there, even though they lost some of their best talent from last year.
It would be nice to bring the title back to TREBINJE again, the heart of dear Hercegovina, but I don't think they have what it takes to do it this year.

When will FSBiH cut the league to 10 or 12 teams? 16 is a tad bit too much for ye.

Ma daj kakav Zrinjski!!!

Na stariji klub i BiH!!!!!!!??????

You forgot to say that it was closed down for 50 years before it again saw daylight when the Serbian/Croatian agression on Bosnia Herzegovina started/ended.

Mostar has only one pride and it is FK "Velez" the only club in Mostar with tradition and glory ( eventhough we do play in the 2nd divison now

i will be honest; I hope with all my heart Zrinjski will be relegated this season. No affence!

Zrinjski was "closed down" because of communist opression.

Are you a communist?

Velez doesn't have very many supporters left from Mostar, from what I understand...

The BiH premier league will eventually end up having only 12 teams, but to get to that is a long process. Last year there were 20 teams and 6 got relegated while only 2 got promoted. At the end of this year 4 teams will get relegated and only 2 will get promoted thus bringing the team numbers down to 14 for the next season. The reason they didn't just cut it down to 12 is because of the politics. There would always be someone claiming they were kicked out coz of their race, therefore gradual reduction due to poor performances by teams over a season long period cannot be disputed by anyone. Hope that clears it up a little!!!

Oh I'm quite sure they are all from Mostar, whether they are still in Mostar is another thing (and then why would that be?).

The majority of Mostar is more likely to be cheering for Zrinjski. Velez lost a lot of supporters since '92 and even more at the end of last season. Actually, the "new Velez" doesn't even play in Mostar...

Unlike redboy 2, Who wants to see Zrinjski relegated, I would like to see Velez back in the premier league. It would be good for soccer in BiH to have the Zrinjski/Velez rivalry.

BTW, I'm not really Zrinjski fan. I just find the league very interesting in general.

Super Croat, I've said this before, the majority of Zrinjski fans are refugees that came to Mostar in 1993 from Bosnia and some parts of Hercegovina. I have many Bosnian Croat friends from Mostar who say "F#ck Zrinjski"..."Mostar U Srcu, Velez Do Groba"

If Zrinjski was formed (well re-formed) in some other time I would probably be cheering for both, Velez and Zrinjski.
