Benjamin Kantarovski

The best player in the A-league who has a Macedonian background.

He's started playing regularly again after being injured for basically the whole of last season and has done really well, especially against Brisbane in Suncorp last weekend.

Looking forward i think he can really provide something for the Macedonian NT as we are desperately short of quality DM's. Anyone else think we should try and get him to switch allegiances? Macoboy?

If I was Ange i would have him in my Socceroos squad at the WC.

he deffinitely should be called up by Macedonia, but the far distance IMO is the main problem so he may decline. recently Macedonia even started to avoid regular players who play outside Europe just bcoz of the fact that thay can feature only in qualifiers and not in friendlies (well in only 1 friendly per year and if there is a break in the league they play in). so if Ben doesnt make a transfer to a european club, than I dont believe he will ever consider playin for Macedonia.

Yes, good point.

If he dosen't play in Europe then he dosen't have a chance to be called up but the Macedonian FA should be keeping an eye on his progress for sure.

I mean guys like Demiri and Stjepanovic are hardly the future.

Demiri was solid before the injury, while Stjepanovikj is a mediocre player.

I haven't watched the NT since the Euro 2012 qualifiers but Demiri was our best CDM then.

Playing at St. Gallen is also a move up from Thun so he hasn't done bad for himself.

Even if Stjepanovic is a mediocre player he is currently the most in form Macedonian CDM. He starts basically every game for Wisla and they arnt doing bad in the league.

Who do we have besides them? Gligorov? alm:

Ive seen every Macedonia game for years, I havent missed any since the Andorra away defeat when there was nor stream nor tv broadcasting. Gligorov is a class compared to Stjepanovikj, he is not a great player but besides Demiri is the best that we have at the moment. but currently I think he is out of form. Stjepanovikj has 0 creation, he always sends the ball back to the defenders, I have never seen him play good for the nt. others we simply dont have, so bad or not we r stuck with Stjepanovikj, Gligorov and Demiri.

He has still had problems with injuries over the past year so that hasn't helped

Plus he plays for the worst team in the league so that is also a factor. He is one of the sides best players but a lot of the team are not worthy of A-league level so they make everyone look bad.

In any case he doesn't look to be close to making the Socceroos squad any time soon.

My advice to Ben would be to leave the A-league and go to pretty much any half-decent European league. A Balkan league like the Croatian one would be good - just like what Georgievski did - and go from there. I still have hope he will choose Macedonia one day if he makes a move to Europe in the near future
