They beat youre ass 75-63 yesterday

Russia, Slovenia and Georgia await in the next group where 4 out of 6 teams qualify. Despite currently being placed 1st, even 4th place would be a massive achievement.

Well, we shopuld've had players like Preldzic and Begic, so we could've whooped your asses. By the way, we beat you guys in the last game of qualifying. :smileani:

Nice performance though, although qithout that black guy, Bo, yoou wouldn't be near as good. Pero Antic dominated us on the glass, we really missed Ratko Varda in this tourney. Good luck the rest of the way.

A big congrats goes out to all the Macedonian Basketballers today

On our independance day, 8th September, they overcame Georgia 65-63 to reach the quarter finals of Eurobasket 2011.

This is our best result at a Eurobasket tournament. As an independant nation we have qualified also for the 1999 and 2009 competitions where we didnt get out of the group and came 9th repsectively.

The result against Georgia guarantees us at least 8th place and im sure that both Bo McCalebb and Pero Antic have earned a spot in Macedonian Basketball fans hearts forever. They were once again brilliant today, as they have been all tournament.

I should also mention that this is not just a great Basketball achievement for us but is one of the greatest achievements in Macedonian sport since gaining our independence 20 years ago. And hey, the tournament is not over just yet

Well, the fairytale continues.

Believe it or not, we have beaten Lithuania 67-65 on their home patch (following a 3 by Ilievski 5 seconds from time) to make it to the Semi Finals of the competition.

I have only been following the results and stats (havent been watching the actual games) but it seems to be the same story all over again - Bo and Antic - even with Gecevski out though we still managed to maintain our momentum.

I feel like im talking about a Waterpolo championship, not a Bball one

After losses to champions Spain and Russia, we have finished 4th at Eurobasket 2011.

No doubt one of the greatest achievements in Macedonian sporting history.

Well done Boys

Olympic Qualifying Tournament

Angola - Macedonia (2 July)
Macedonia - New Zealand (3 July)
New Zealand - Angola (4 July)

Hopefully our basketball team does better here than our handball one. I say its critical that we win the group to avoid playing Russia in the quarters.

Macedonia are favourites in this group.
it just amazing how such a small country which lost 5 years ago to israel 2 times and lost qualifaiton to the eurobasket 2007 became so great.

Macedonia didn't qualify for the Olympics, but since they were in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament, they've automatically qualified for Eurobasket 2013. Now the only Ex-Yu nation not qualified is Serbia, who woulda thought.
