Macedonia - Ukrain : march, 31

Kanatlarovski confirms his party
Friday, 19 March 2004
F.Y.R. Macedonia coach Dragan Kanatlarovski has named a 17-man squad for the friendly international against Ukraine in Skopje on 31 March.

Kiev stalemate
The match follows a 0-0 draw between the sides in Kiev last year. It will be the fourth friendly test of 2004 for F.Y.R. Macedonia, as Kanatlarovski prepares for the forthcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. A 1-0 home win against Bosnia-Herzegovina preceded a 0-0 draw and 1-0 defeat by China during a mini-tour of that country.

F.Y.R. Macedonia squad
Milosevski, Nikolovski, Igor Mitreski, Stavrevski, Stojanovski, Bozinovski, Cumbev, Vasoski, Aleksandar Mitrevski, Љumulikoski, Krstev, Sakiri, Jancevski, Pandev, Cadikovski, Dimitrovski, Toleski.

-------------------------------

Popov, Gligorovski, nebi mustafi are finally ruled out for this game.
Ilco naumoski too due to injury.
it's a shame Stojkov isn't there too.
Mitreski is back since is signing a new deal with Spartak Moscow and Sumu has been released by his coach for this game. Dimitrovski, Prva Liga's most prolific striker will be in for this game too. He's a very good back up player for our squad.
toleski is rewarded for his last good games.

Another quality friendly. Macedonia are playing the right opponents, not at all easy matches where the players will have to show their worth in order to get that first team spot.

Macedonia has been developing at a rapid pace, let's see if they continue with this phenomenon. Good luck!

Tough game today ... and we have many injured players especially in attack : pandev, naumoski and hristov ! nothing less than our best players upfront.
Pandev's injury came yesterday and it completely changed the coach plans. Looks like Cadikovski will play alone in attack with sakiri just behind him.

our possible starters:

Николоски, Ставревски, Митрески, Стојановски, Седлоски, А. Митрески, М. Крстев, Шумуликоски, Јанчевски, Чадиковски, Шаќири.

Speaking on behalf of Ukrainian fans, we think otherwise. Our national team football has been horrible the past couple of years and you were able to capitalise it to pull out a win. Congrats to your team and I thought that you were defiantely the stronger side in the match (even though we didnt field our top team). I hope this game spurs some interest in Ukrainian owners to recruit more Macedonian players to play in Ukrainian league.

you're right namek16. our best strikers weren't there and half of our defense too (for instance vasovski, popov, petrov).

our U21 team won 1-0 too. excellent result for them since ukrain players had more chances. tome pandev, our keeper did a really great show, saving everything. Our team scored from a penalty kick by grozdanovski at the 60th min..

no grozdanovski missed the penalty.
after the goalkeeper saved it, the ball came back to vlatko.g and then he hit it in the net.

Stavrevski strikes in Skopje
Wednesday, 31 March 2004
F.Y.R. Macedonia 1-0 Ukraine
Defender Goran Stavrevski was the F.Y.R. Macedonia hero as he scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Ukraine in a friendly international on Wednesday in Skopje.

Stavrevski strike
The NK Zagreb player struck in the 26th minuite following a fine move involving Artim Sakiri and Goce Sedloski. It was his third international goal. The other major incident of a low-key game came when Ukraine striker Andriy Shevchenko sustained a mouth injury late in the first half and was substituted.

World Cup approaches
The Macedonians are building towards the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers having been drawn in Group 1 alongside Finland, Netherlands, Romania, Armenia, Czech Republic, and Andorra.

Ukraine opponents
Ukraine will contest Group 2 with Albania, Denmark, Greece, Turkey, Georgia and Kazakhstan.

Last year in 3 month we did beat Ukraine 1-0, Bosna 1-0 and Estonia 4-2 and talk about that Macedonia and Ukraine NT have gone to different directions since then....

But since dose games just one year ago only two players are left in the NT, maybe ther is some of the answer

well our midd was strong just one year ago, against Ukraine Sakiri and Stojanovski playd well in the midd and also Trajanov who are not in the team anymore since he don't get any time in Armenia Germany....

I think the loss to Andorra hurt us the most because after that loss it looked like our NT was corrupt and the rumors about the game being fixed hurt even more... As far as the Ukraine game i remember watching this game and we not only beat but outplayed Ukraine plus Shevchenko even got a bloody nose and was crying it looked like Ukraine were a bunch of amateurs compared to us and now we look like we are 100 years behind them
