here is an introduction of sparta praha :
from uefa.com (...) "AC Sparta Praha will be aiming for a ninth league title in eleven years when the Czech season kicks off on Saturday.
The champions have signed seven players ahead of the new campaign, although influential defender Zdenek Grygera has departed for AFC Ajax in a €3.5m transfer. Leading the influx is former Czech international captain Jirí Nemec, 37, who has returned to the Letná stadium after ten years away.
Johana the key
He is joined by Igor Gluscevic, a striker from FC Utrecht who will bolster coach Jirí Kotrba's attack, and Mirko Poledica, a defensive reinforcement. However, Czech international defender Petr Johana from FC Slovan Liberec could be the key recruit as Sparta bid for the UEFA Champions League group stage. "

AC Sparta Praha have started planning their title defence for 2003/04 by signing Karlsruher SC midfield player Patrik Jezek and SK Sigma Olomouc defender Radoslav Kovác.
The 26-year-old Jezek left Austrian side FC Tirol Innsbruck last summer after the club was declared bankrupt before signing a one-year deal with German second division side Karlsruher. His contract at the club is now finished and, having won the Austrian title three times during his career in Europe, has decided to return to his home country after a six-year absence.
Meanwhile, Sparta were quick to agree a deal with 23-year-old Kovác, a member of the Czech Republic's successful 2002 UEFA European Under-21 Championship side and regarded as one of the finest defensive prospects in the country. Kovác arrives at the Letná stadium as a possible replacement for established defender Zdenek Grygera who has received a number of offers to join clubs outside the Czech Republic. "
so they lost some key players but managed to make come some "oldies but goodies " like nemec and poborsky ( i especially wish to see vasovski fit for poborski's treatment.
) and interesting signings like gluscevic and poledica without forgetting the influence of labant, johana or kouba, all internationals. the defense will be strong even though grygera left.
