The Everton thread

Alright, looking in the World Cup, plus teams not in the World Cup and through the lower divisions I've started to think about what Everton needs:

- a new goalkeeper. The ones we have are an embarrassment.
- a right-back and central defender with pace.
- two wingers and a central playmaker
- an extra striker with pace and perhaps one with strength

Players we might take a look at from the lower divisions include David Thompson (Coventry, ex-Liverpool), Alan Quinn (Sheffield Wednesday) and Paul Evans (Brentford). From the World Cup teams, I'm starting to think of South Korea's Ahn Jung Hwan, USA's DaMarcus Beasley, Mexico's Cuhatemoc Blanco and Nigeria's goalie Ike Shoronmu.

Anyone you might add to the list?

I've had a feeling for a while that Everton lack pace. So Beasley on the wing would be good...a few quick defenders wouldn't go a miss either...maybe have a look at a few of those lads playing for Senegal. That lad up front for Japan too, Inamoto, might be worth a look as a replacement for Ferguson. Him and Razinski would be a good pairing. Instead of firing big high crosses in, low and hard balls into the area could be the norm for them to get on the end of.

Junichi Inamoto is a central midfielder Fred. I can't believe Arsenal had this player whip the bench in favor of the likes of Grimandi, Edu and Parlour.

Love is the drug, and I'm a junkie.

Either Arsenal will give him more of a chance, or let him go. But we've gotta be realistic about who could we sign, after all we're not a rich club...

Well I don't know if we could afford his wages, but Arsenal have a strict wage structure so he's unlikely to demand that much.

Everton's Nyarko Linked With PSG
News Archive

06/12/2002. Everton outcast Alex Nyarko is close to an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain, according to the French media. The Ghanaian international spent last season with Championnat outfit Monaco, who have not purchased him yet despite strong interest from coach Didier Deschamps. However with Deschamps having personal problems with president Campora, Nyarko's fate was left undecided, which left the door open for other transactions to take place. Torino and Lyon are said to be interested in the player, who has no intention to go back to England.

We need to sell some of our unwanted players to get some money, then we can spend. I wouldn't mind Beasley on the left wing for us, his pace would be a huge boost for us.

beasley is a great, fast, young left wing...i think he would be an excellent signing for everton as he wouldn't cost too much...a good investment...

We already have Linderoth who is an excellent player as he's showing in the World Cup. If we were to add Thompson and Beasley (or Blanco), all is needed is a central playmaker.

Yes, wasting more money for a new left winger would be excellent, *cough*IDAN TAL*cough* since there are no young talents willing to work hard and prove themselves *cough*IDAN TAL*cough* in your squad *cough* IDAN TAL *cough*.

Why not just letting the kid a chance, he's never had one. From my understanding Moyes actually counts on him for next season, but then again so was Smith...

Tal was not rated by Smith. I don't doubt his ability, but would he want to remain at Everton now?

If we go to the Nationwide for players, I'd still choose Paul Evans first (he's been let go by Brentford apparently), and look at Kenny Lunt and Phil Charnock (Crewe) or Jason Koumas (Tranmere).

From Italy, I'd be tempted to look at Vugrinec, Conticchio and Piangarelli (Lecce), Frick, Colucci and Melis (Verona) and maybe Christiano Amoruso (Fiorentina).

From my native Australia? Greg Owens (Sydney Olympic), Paul Reid (Wollongong) or Brad Maloney (Perth Glory).

David Votoupal,

Smith is the new coach ofcourse and even though he came into the scene, he never sent Idan Tal to go home. The chance of Idan Tal reamains with Idan himself, because of the fact that he is still kinda wanted by Everton, especially smith.

Back with the old coach, there was many chances that he got, so now with Smith he can show off his real potentials.

And i can assure you he has some.

Already, there are some teams that are intrested in him in Spain, but he is not keen on leaving Everton as of yet!

Yeah, I heard about Rooney. Maybe he'll be a star in Euro 2004?

Antonio Asta was released by Torino, maybe we could try to get him on a free...

Everton Reject PSG Loan Move For Nyarko
News Archive

Nyarko is unlikely to play for Everton again (Allsport)
06/17/2002. Everton have rejected an offer from Paris St Germain to take Alex Nyarko on loan.

The Ghanian, who spent the whole of last season on loan at Monaco, is unlikely to play for Everton again after an infamous incident at the end of the 2000-1 season when a supporter ran onto the pitch and offered to swap shirts with Nyarko, claiming that he wasn't trying hard enough for the club, however Everton want to part with him permanently and not get involved in another loan deal.

A spokesman for the club said, "We have received a request on behalf of Paris St Germain to see if we were interested in allowing Alex Nyarko to go out on-loan. However that request has been rejected."

Well we need to sell Nyarko, get the cash and invest it in the players we need.

It goes without saying that we need to put together a low-cost, high-performance team.

Everton Line Up Double American Switch
News Archive

Brian McBride had an excellent World Cup (Allsport)
06/25/2002. Rumours are rife that Everton are planning a double American move with a swap deal involving Brian McBride and Joe-Max Moore.

It's thought that the Goodison based club are ready to offer Columbus Crew cash plus Moore in exchange for McBride, who impressed during the World Cup.

Moore started just three games for Everton last season and may relish a return to the States.

Moore hasn't done much for us and I'd gladly replace him with McBride, Donovan or Beasley.
