So the Championship has kicked off again. I sometimes think I like it more than the premiership as it's basically like a full league of early 00's mid table premier league quality teams without the big 4 there to smash everyone. Very competitive league.
Opening game was great, a 3-3 thriller between newly promoted Luton and Middlesbrough, with two screamers, a missed penalty and plenty of attacking football. Can't wait for the next one.
I'll be soft-rooting for Bielsa's Leeds again. Likely a losing proposition, but always fun.
It's hard not to like the Championship. My one issue is that it feels endless. Dozens of games, playoffs, etc. But that can be part of the epic aspect I guess.
i would always like to watch championship, but its kick off timing mostly at the same with EPL games. i ll try to follow as possible as i can this season.
Bielsa and his team lost the chance in the playoff last season.. can he do it this season?
I also wonder what Sabri Lamouchi and his team can prove in this great challenge

I work at home a lot and can record the games and then “watch” while I work during the week. Unlike with EPL, with Championship games you rarely find spoilers about the games you missed in social media or the news.
A bad situation going on in League One with Bury and Bolton. Bury hasn't played a game this season and their future is in doubt while Bolton are playing mostly 16-19 year olds and cancelled their game today and face more points deductions (currently at -11)
Don't really know the whole story but both clubs have serious financial problems and a club like Bolton wasn't paying their players or staff for months so they boycotted the last few games of the Championship season last season. For Bolton this was coming, it seems that when they were in the EPL they were spending way beyond their means and when they got relegated they were in 9-figure debt(!) and were unable to pay their taxes
Bury will probably be extinct in the near future, but don't know much about their situation
Sad what happened to Bury, financial mismanagement on a massive scale during past 6 or 7 years.
I remember when they were in Nationwide Division One (Championship today)
Hopefully they can start a new company debt free in the non-leagues & try to work their way back up, like Wimbledon did.
As long as they can stay at Gigg Lane stadium, Bury FC still lives...& I believe the land that stadium sits on is designated for sports purposes only.
Swansea with a massive win at Elland Road and they go top before the international break. Swansea, WBA and Charlton still unbeaten as Charlton are the big surprises so far. At the bottom both Stoke and Huddersfield still without a win
Strange round, Stoke finally get their first win and it was away to Swansea while Leeds lost too after getting a man sent off very early in the match
WBA and Forest joint leaders but it’s tight at the top with the top 10 separated only by four points. The big early surprise is Preston in 3rd while newly promoted Charlton are still in the top 10 despite slipping off last few weeks
At the bottom Stoke finally won but Huddersfield out of the relegation zone after 7 points from their last 9
Hasn't been updated in a while but two rounds to go with Leeds playing their game in hand tomorrow, should Leeds win they are practically up. The final promotion spot is down to West Brom and Brentford, WBA have two consecutive draws while Brentford are on an eight game winning streak. West Brom control their own destiny knowing two wins will do it while Brentford must hope they drop points somewhere. West Brom still go to Huddersfield (fighting for safety) and host QPR (nothing to play for) while Brentford play two relegation threatened teams: Stoke (A), Barnsley (H)
Whoever doesn't promote will finish third, Fulham look certain for 4th place, Forest and Cardiff at the moment the final two playoff teams with Millwall and Swansea all within three points, the other teams like Preston, Bristol and Derby still have slim chances
At the bottom Barnsley look doomed, still have to play Leeds, Forest and Brentford and probably need to win at least two of those games if not all three, Luton have an uptick in form since the break but maybe too late but they face Hull this weekend, the loser of that will certainly go down (Hull were hammered 8:0 by Wigan the other day); Charlton, Huddersfield, Boro, Stoke, Birmingham all in problems still, Wigan face a 12 point deduction
Crazy few days in the Championship, first the main story is Leeds are up and they have won the league all without playing a game On Friday West Brom lost to Huddersfield and had seemed to throw away automatic promotion but today Brentford had their 8 game winning streak snapped at Stoke. On the final day of the season three teams could still finish 2nd: West Brom control their own destiny, a win at home against QPR will do it, Brentford host Barnsley, need to better the result WBA get while Fulham go to Wigan and need to win +hope WBA loses and Brentford doesn't win. Forest look secure for 5th place, the last playoff is spot is down to the two Welsh teams, Cardiff three points above Swansea with Cardiff hosting Hull who are fighting for their lives
Nobody relegated yet, Barnsley will be officially relegated if they fail to win tomorrow, their only shot at safety is winning their remaining two games but they face Forest and Brentford; Hull who lost at home to Luton today are as good as down, they need to win and make up a 16 goal swing on the final day, their only hope is Wigan get their -12 point deduction. The final spot is down to Luton, Charlton, Boro, Birmingham, Huddersfield, Huddersfield seem ok, only need a point but even if they lose its likely they stay up. On paper Charlton have the toughest task going to Leeds
What a crazy finish to the Championship, 2nd place, 6th place and the relegation battle came down to the final seconds, and you could say relegation is still in the air with Wigan's appeal
West Brom, despite failing to win their final 4 matches promote with a 2:2 draw against QPR, thanks to Brentford losing at home to Barnsley (Brentford after winning 8 in a row lost their final two games of the season). Fulham failed to win as well but with the way results went they wouldn't have gone up anyway. Cardiff finish 5th while the Nottingham Forest, who were in the top 6 all calendar year fell on GD to 7th place, losing 4:1 at home to Stoke while Swansea who needed to win did so at Reading
At the bottom, Charlton and Hull went down meekly, Barnsley did the unthinkable and beat Forest and Brentford in the final two games, however they will go down if Wigan's appeal is successful. Luton did their job and beat Blackburn and will stay up after their first season
First leg of the playoffs complete, in the first game Swansea beat Brentford 1:0, deserved win for Swansea but they could have scored more, Ayew missed a penalty, Brentford weren't aided with a soft red card but they rarely troubled the Swansea keeper. In the other game Fulham easily beat Cardiff 2:0 in Wales, hard to see anything but Fulham at Wembley
