I would have looked at Handanovic or Butland personally.
I wanted Butland before his injury. The alternative to Karius was Horn, I think, both look similar levels to me, I'll trust Klopp's judgement on that.

Seems Klopp wants to do all business early to get his squad ready for the intense preseason training he's got planned.

Karius coming in three years younger than mignolet and having been Mainz GK for two seasons and a half, at 22 mignolet had just moved to Sunderland from 2nd division Belgium, I loved the mignolet move when the club made it but Karius comes in with a much higher ceiling than mignolet

According to Sky, West Ham made a £25m joint bid to Bournemouth for Callum Wilson and Matt Ritchie, Bournemouth told them to jog on.

Elliot Lee has posted on twitter that he's been released by West Ham, not really of much consequence to anyone I don't think, but it's a transfer thing that's happened.

Don't even know who that is and I seen plenty of West Ham games and have few hammers coworkers.

He was mostly out on loan, I think he played a couple of premier league games and a few games in Europe etc.

He's the son of Rob Lee who used to play for Newcastle.

Fat Sam says that Sunderland will sort out the futures of their loan players first. I would imagine they will want to keep M'Vila and Yedlin if they can. N'Doye isn't really prolific enough.

Edit - Oh and no chance they'll keep Toivonen, I forgot he was even there.

If wages weren't an issue, Tovionen and Kezman really should have stayed at PSV.

Lex Immers - Pace & power. Holland's #1 box to box player

Feyenoord forum - the place to talk about this phenomenon

Toivonen was awful when he played, really sub-par player.

Richard Wright has retired from the Man City training ground/getting paid to have a season ticket.

Monchengladbach have announced they've had an offer from Xhaka, which the media thinks is from Arsenal.

For? Lacazette?

Liverpool bid €25 million for Gotze according to some German source.

Reading some (poorly translated) German forums has put me off Gotze, seems like he's really regressed. Don't get me wrong I'd be excited with the signing in the hope that Klopp gets him back to his Dortmund form but with Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana already here I'd definitely be prioritising a pacey winger.

£31m seems reasonable for Lacazette tbh. Not sure anyone will offer more than that.

West Brom have also released Stephane Sessegnon. He could be a decent grab for a newly promoted side.

Steve Cook signs a 3 year extension at Bournemouth, he was really good for them last season.

Islam Slimani being heavily linked with Spurs, would make a very good back-up rotation for Kane.
