My Plan for Newcastle United

As there is no joy in being a Newcastle United fan anymore I have been contemplating over the past days what i would do if i were in charge at Newcastle and had free reign on signings.

players out

Krul
R.Taylor
Santon
Colocini
Tiote
Williamson
Goufran
Obertan
S. Ameobi
Rivere
Cisse
Anita
Sissoko
Elliot
Marveux and the rest of the loaned out tripe (not vuckic though)

With the exception of Ryan Taylor I think all of the above are a complete disgrace to the club and should be ashamed of them self. They are not fit to play for us any longer.

Players In

Schmeichel- Leicester
Vardy- Leicester
Hughes- Derby
Marshall- Cardiff
Ings- Burnley
Phillips- QPR
Caulker- QPR
Collins- Westham
Montero- Swansea
Van Dijk- Celtic
Lacazette- Lyon
Robertson- Hull
Dembele- Spurs
Naismith- Everton

Two new goal keepers. Newcastle have lost 12 points due to goal keeping errors this season. I think Schmeichel and Marshall would provide very good competition between the sticks and are both very solid keepers who i think you could acquire for a good price.

We have been operating with the same center halfs as we had in the championship! This is a disgrace and investment is badly needed. That is why I would bring in the experience of James Collins who i think is very solid and would be ill-expensive. Caulker I feel would be a good investment in the future of the club, is a good defender and i think would be a future captain for years to come. Van Dijk I am sure could step up from the SPL to the PL and like Collins and Caulker is very good on set piece defending and generally a solid defender. Andrew Robertson would provide cover at full back for Jaanmat. I think Robertson is has a lot of potential and likes to get forward and when he does get forward is productive! All the defenders I have proposed to buy would be available at good prices (especially if QPR go down) and would provide steal, strength and fight into the side.

For the midfield i would elect to sign Will Hughes who i think is an exceptional young player who would at the very least provide strength in depth to our midfield and at best would be the first name on the team sheet for every game. I also like Matt Phillips at QPR I think as he approaches his 30's he will get better and better. He is a man who can create a lot of chances for his team mates ad is very composed in the final third of the field. My first marquee Signing would be this man- Jefferson Montero. He is a fantastic winger who reminds me of Laurent Robert only less greedy this is just the sort of man Newcastle United need if he could be prised away from Swansea for the right price.
As a replacement for what Tiote used to be all those years ago I would sign Mousa Dembele from Spurs, a guarantee of PL football and a potential captaincy might lure him to SJP. I think he is still a fine midfielder and would i am sure be a fan favorite immediately.

Obviously the majority of the strikers would be booted out and we would be left with Ayoze Perez and Adam Armstrong. Perez and Armstrong both need to mature physically and I think neither should be playing more than 15-20 matches a season. Poor Perez is clearly burnt out! That is why I would bring in substantial cover to see us compete in the league and both cups with quality strikers! Jamie Vardy would add blistering pace to our attack and could cover on the wing, yes, not prolific in front of goal but similar to what Bellamy offered us once upon a time. Given he is now 28 I think he could be picked up very reasonably. Danny Ings is the natural goal scorer we need to poach goals and be a general threat to the opposition. I like Ings very much and I think he would be right at home playing at Newcastle with the squad I propose. Alexandre Lacazette- I would move heaven and earth to get this man on Tyneside. Currently on 27 goals for Lyon this guy scores all sorts of goals and if he could settle into the premier league would not only be a marquee player for us but for the league. Steven Naismith I think is still a very effective player and plays very well against certain clubs. He would be my main man to come off the bench in the last 30 minutes of a match if we were chasing a game and you could confidently play this guy in the cup competitions knowing he is capable of scoring.

Therefore my squad would be

Goal Keepers

Schmeichel
Marshall
Alnwick
Woodman

Defenders

S.Taylor
Dummet
Haidarra
Caulker
Collins
Robertson
Jannmat
Van Dijk

Midfielders

Abeid
De Jong
Arrons
Colback
Cabella (last chance)
Vuckic
Hughes
Phillips
Montero
Dembele

Strikers

Lacazzete
Ings
Vardy
Naismith
Perez
Armstrong

My Starting lineup would look something like

----------------------------Schmeichel------------------------------

Jaanmat---------------Caulker----------Collins---------------Haidarra

----------------------Dembele--------Colback------------------------

Montero----------------------De Jong--------------------Phillips/Vardy

Ings/Lacazzette

There is lots of strength in depth in the squad, you could have two very strong teams out of the one squad and this is what you need for a strong side. None of my signings would break the bank and I think we would generate 54m for players departing and with the 36m we already have in the bank which equates to 90m. My signings would cost around the 85m mark- money well spent i think! We probably have one striker to many as well!

If McCLaren goes to Newcastle, I'd bet my life he takes Hughes with him.

I doubt Lacazette is joining the Toon.

Lacazzette and Montero are probably a bit of a stretch for NUFC as things stands. Lacezzette has always been strongly linked with a move to tyneside however with the way he has performed in the last season I would say he no longer needs the stepping stone that is Newcastle United.

I would be disappointed in McClaren if he went to work for Mike Ashley. I think he could get Derby back into the PL this year or next. Have a season with them in the PL then i think he could be looking at going to join a club with a bit more ambition and a bit more to offer than NUFC.

That's exactly what I thought, but the signs have started to point towards him going. We will see at the end of the season I guess.

Perhaps it's just all the gloom and doom with derby fans at the moment, and actually McClaren is going to stay

Interesting read. Coloccini and Tiote used to be well liked.

Read a rumour that Ashley might sell Janmaat.

Feeling I have when watching Newcastle is that they can't be bothered.

Lex Immers - Pace & power. Holland's #1 box to box player

Feyenoord forum - the place to talk about this phenomenon

I can understand your logic, cannot see that many signings being made though.

Colocini had one good season for us and it was when we were in the championship. Tiote's first season was good but unfortunately after that he has been awful. To think at one time we could have sold these two players for about 30 million for the pair....i would be happy with 30pence for them at the moment.

Janmaat has a bit of potential. Unfortunately as things stand it won't be brought out of him at NUFC. If we got a good offer for him I would take it and spend the money on someone like Bacuna from villa.

I can't honestly see how these players can play for us again...they have absolutely disgraced the club and them selfs. They simply have not tried. I feel sorry for the club these players end up going to.

I now mate. I've been there in the past watching David Sommeil and Danny Mills playing for us, but ultimately unless there's a load of cash you won't get that many players in as you cannot get rid of a lot of the bad apples in the first place.

The trouble for every football club, you sign a player on a 4 year contract. Discover they are shit after 3 weeks, and then you can't get rid of them. Even when you send them out on loan, they get sent back early once the other club realises how shit they are.,so they just sit there, festering sucking the life out of your club, while you sit through a transfer window not signing anyone decent, because you need to "cut the wage bill"

Reading back through this i'm staggered Big Mike hasn't been on the phone offering me the Chief Executive job at NUFC.
