Some low level Northern Irish players have headed out on an Edmonton FC expedition Daryl Fordyce, Albert Watson and Robbie Garrett. I believe this is Albert Watson's first professional contract.

Matt Jones - Belenenses (interview)

Historical Portuguese club Belenenses will be back in the Portuguese top flight next season after a magnificent season saw them run away with the Segunda Liga title, smashing the points record for the division in the process. PortuGOAL caught up with one of the heroes of the resurgent Restelo club, their ever-present English goalkeeper Matt Jones.

I know he's from the estate I grew up on but having seen his picture I swear I went school with him. Time to do some digging.

Well that was easy enough, I did.

John Bostock has joined Royal Antwerp people thought he was going to be great when Spurs signed him from Palace but he's lost the plot since

2012/13 SPL top scorer and player of the year, Michael Higdon joined NEC Nijmegen a few days ago

I dunno. The weirdest one to me is that Kyle Lafferty has signed for Palermo :eekani:

I hope Higdon's a success in Holland. I liked when he won the Player of the Year award he ended up so pissed he got arrested

Former England Premiership players Andy O'Brien, 이영표, Kenny Miller, Nigel Reo-Coker and Jay DeMerit all play for Vancouver Whitecaps FC alongside the British-born soccer athlete Matt Watson.

"Soccer athlete" is great, I've never heard that particular combination of words before Tend to just call 'em fitbawers or players round these parts. Anyway, Vancouver must be bad if they start Kenny Miller, not even good enough for Scotland anymore

Tell you what if I ever move to North America it'd be to somewhere near a decent franchise. Think it'd be fun to watch these teams now they have a few players you know about. Great route into football for people who've watched EPL football over the years. Its undeniable the standard is rising out there and the football culture is improving into something exciting. Sure its only Reo-Coker and Kenny Miller, but its more than just one player per team, some sides are getting a good core of players.

Mate, the GREAT SAM ALLARDYCE graced those shores way before Reo-Coker or Miller. Taught them everything they know did Fat Sam.

As for Michael Higdon, great to see another Crewe Alexandra product reach great heights. Also, Kyle Lafferty playing in Serie B? What the **** happened to the Cristiano Ronaldo's of Serie B (Guberti)? Run out of them ey Palermo?

He'll still have enough to survive.

EDIT: saw it's 47k the Thai chairman there must be nuts

yeah, wanted to mention that one.
From Grimsby to sunny Spain.

Higdon btw has had a pretty poor start to his career at NEC. Looks slow which is fair enough but he's been missing absolute sitters too

Jay Simpson seemed a talented player when he came through at Arsenal. I thought he was one of the better youth products to leave and forge a career for themselves. Initially he was very promising for Hull too from what I remember.

Sad he couldn't find another Championship club or even lower leagues in the UK. Still, 6 months in Thailand and he'll be sorted for life financially by sounds of it. Have a feeling JET and Sanchez Watt will go the same way. I do commend some English lads who go abroad if they can't make it in the UK.

Though maybe some of them should take a look at themselves with what they expect in wages etc.

Lol 5m for Jay Bothroyd to go to Thailand for two years

They could easily get a better player to promote the game with that kind of money

Paul Ifill of the Millwall FA Cup final team plays for the Wellington Phoenix (injured at present). And Emile Heskey was over in Australia (along with Del Piero as a matter of interest).
