Fans love those kinds of heroics in Turkey/Greece.

Carroll saved the penalty with the first touch of his Olympiacos career and his team went on to win 0-1. He then proceeded to legendary status among the fans, after producing a string of saves in the return leg whilst carrying a visible hamstring injury.
yea he is gaining a bit of a cult status out there while on loan from OFI Crete.

Other northern Irish players abroad include Terry McFlynn, Sydney FC captain and Jonny Steele at Real Salt Lake.

These guys do right for me... if you can't make it in the big time, go to a nice warm country to play rather than slumming it in league two!

If I post links in my sig again, Zico is going to stab me in the eye.

Mark Fotheringham (ex Dundee and Norwich) signed for Hoffenheim.

Hadn't really heard of him before but he's had a few stints abroad when I browsed his Wiki....Anorthosis Famagusta, FC Aarau, SC Freiburg.

Garry O`Connor has joined Russian 2nd division side Tom Tomsk.

Another odd one considering he left Lokomotiv Moscow because he struggled to settle in Russia for family reasons. I dont think Tomsk (in Siberia!) will be any more easier.

According to the story on the BBC site

Who is Mark Cook?

Was at Newcastle, Hartlepool and Gateshead without making any first-team appearances.

Joined Harrogate Town in early 2010-11.

Has made 61 appearances for the Blue Square Bet North side, keeping 17 clean sheets.

Man Rohann Rickett's has had one odd career. Was he not playing for Shamrock Rovers in the Europa last season vs. Spurs?

I think so yeah....much respect to Ricketts for having the balls to go abroad the way he has. Certainly must be an adventure :thumbsup
