I'm not Millwall_rule or anything, and I have a kid now... I can barely watch premiership football let alone all the youth games. From what I have seen of them they look good, but I have a policy of never rating defenders at that age. Very rare for defenders doing well at that level to shine on later in their careers. Struggling to think of any in fact, even at U19/U20 level. Attackers and midfielders you can take more stock of. Good luck to them but I'd be shocked if they become senior players.

Hopefully a good amount of them make it.

Now that all our senior hopes are in tatters, these youth players are now needed more than ever. So will try to add some more profiles in the coming weeks.

Josh McEachran

Age: 17
Height: ???
Position: CM/AM

He is exactly the kind of player we need and currently missing but you fear for the lads future in the premier league and the FA as it is. Currently he is at Chelsea and has been very impressive for their youth team as well as the England youth team (winning the U17 euros). Since he is at Chelsea you wonder if he will get a chance or anywhere in the league for that matter. He is a left footed player (!!) who plays in a similar style to the likes of Iniesta. Very patient on the ball, quick feet with the ability to dribble and shift the ball sideways quickly and with intelligence. Very good range of passing, decent at freekicks and a good shot on him but mostly focused on playmaking. The ability to beat a man with skill, operate in tight areas under pressure while not panicking, play the intelligent pass and be a threat on goal could see him turn into a top player. Not as incisive as say Wilshire but you could argue looks after the ball a bit better and maybe a better dribbler, can't really say until he breaks into first teams.

Euro under 19s starts on Sunday.

England start with Austria, 5:30pm kick off. Live on Eurosport. I'll probably have a watch if I'm not busy so I'll try and find a few links.

Thomas Cruise is surely destined for legend status.

Hopefully Bostock makes the step up and gets more proactive/forceful in his game, way too reactive and placid last few times I have seen him. Hopefully there are some others who make an impression, as the ones I know of (Nouble, Delfouneso, Parrett etc.) are pretty shit to put it nicely. Clyne is alright from what I have seen, still.

Thanks NG.

Ronaldmcdonald - Heard he is already world class apparently?

This is a good tournament for us to watch, most of Europe strong teams are there too, except Germany.

Cool, links would be appreciated. I'd be up for having a gander. I'm skint at the mo.

Eurosport had it down as 5:30pm rather than 5pm when I checked the other day. Idiots.

1-0 England. Nouble.

Clearence from the let back area, Austrians get in to a bit of a mix up, Nouble pounces, tidy finish.

Bit against the run of play too.

Nouble and Parrett proving me wrong so far. Trying to keep the ball but don't quite have the patience, we tend to hit long when we haven't attacked after 40 seconds.

Thanks for the stream NG, my one had better quality video but no sound... which isn't as fun.

Austria playing some nice stuff though.

Eurosport commentary is shite, they barely say anyones name so hard to work out who is who.

Thats because the Eurosport commentators probably do not even know who is on the ball They always keep the same crap commentators when it would be best to get someone who maybe knows a thing or two about youth football in England and the world (or Europe at least).

Really rate Frank Nouble, any time I've seen this kid play in a West Ham shirt he's been insanely good for his age. Rather surprised Chelsea let go a gem like him, think it's in most of Chelsea's young English players to leave for clubs like West Ham/Fulham, they'll see playing time.

The France-Holland game has by far the more informed commentators, weird they weren't put on the England game. The game is far better too, France could murder us, they look a bit special.

As for us, we had our moments but wasn't entirely convincing. Bostock still doesn't impose himself, although he kept the ball well and played intelligent passes. Parrett made some driving runs and kept it simple for the most part, improved massively since I last saw him anyway assuming this isn't a one off. James looked quite good. Nouble did well with his goals but could have done a lot better with his layoffs. Apart from that there wasn't much to go crazy about IMO.
