Copa America forum

For the duration of the tournament, we've created a separate forum for the Copa America. It can be found next to the World Football forum.

https://www.xtratime.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=366

Enjoy.

Shouldn't tournaments like the European Championships and Copa America be placed in the sections they belong to? After all they are regional championships.

Why din't you ask that question during the Euro and waited for Copa America to do it?

We did consider that, but because such competitions have an appeal that goes beyond the borders of their respective regions, they were given a place in a section where they can attract a more diverse audience.

I thought about it then as well, as the Euro used to be in the European section. But right now I was looking for the Copa America because I'm interested in it and because I love football. I'm not anti South American if that's what you're hinting at. I found it odd and illogical that it was found in the world section instead of the section it belongs in. If anything, with my European footballing background it would be even more important for me to get Euro 2008 into the European section, since I think it would help the section of Xtratime I do most of my posting in.

Sorry Boyo, I don't agree with your argument. Surely other competitions in the various continents have a broader appeal as well. What about the Copa Libertadores, Champions League and even the top national leagues. This just leads to Xtratime being more centralised, with the focus being taken away from the continental sections. It also helps make the Xtratime structure seem quite illogical.

As long as its done in a polite manner it wouldn't surprise me if they appreciate the input they get from their members. After all we all want the best for the community here.

I would prefer that the Copa America forum be placed in the S.A. forum. The way it is placed now pulls posters away from the S.A. forum.

The difference is that the Copa America only comes along once every couple of years, and those other competitions you mentioned are part of the structural, seasonal football calender. For that reason those other competitions have permanent forums in their respective regions, and the Copa one is only temporary and thus has been given a place in the section where we feel it is best accessible for a wide audience.

But I'll open a poll to see what the other posters want.

Edit: Poll is up. https://www.xtratime.org/forum/showthread.php?p=5388300
