SLO teams in Euro competitions -2011/12

pretty impressive performance from olimpija yesterday against siroki. they look really strong in midfield with vrsic as leader. i can see them achieving something this year in europe. but they should find some proper solution in attack. their young strikers, fink and valencic are awful, at least at the moment. maybe cadikovski is the answer. we`ll see.

i will not comment koper, cause i haven`t see them play, so i don`t know how strong their opponents were.. too bad that they conceded that goal in last minute of first game. they could probably progress..

i`m looking forward to see how maribor will do this season, starting with dudelange next week. i`m expecting comfortable win, but it will be interesting to see how strong we are without tavares. he was always extraordinary in euro games..

and i also wish all the best to domzale, i hope they can make it against split. it`s doable.

so, domžale and koper disappointed us once again, but let`s move on.. what do you think of maribor and olimpija chances in next round?

after the draw i wasn`t too happy, but now i have a good feeling..maribor is still not in its best shape, but we`ve won our last four games and that`s the good thing. we can improve our play and with the new keeper (j.handanovic)our defense will be stronger as well. i think we can make it.

It will be tough for both of them. I would actually be happy even if only one of our teams progresses to the next round.

maribor didn`t deserve to lose. penalty was a joke. except for the first 10 minutes we were much better side in first half. maccabi was better in 2nd half though. however, i think the heat took its toll, our players couldn`t run anymore, tavares hardly stood on his feet before the replacement..
it will be great game next wednesday, i believe. stadium will be sold out and atmosphere will be heated, especially now after we`ve been robbed by referees.

Well, hopefully Maribor can make it, but I am quite skeptical about Olimpija's chances in Austria...

Maribor defeat Rangers 2:1 at home with Velikonja scoring the winner in the final minute. Rangers do have an away goal but I think Maribor can do it, I mean even Malmo eliminated Rangers

congrats to Maribor for qualifying for the Europa League group stage, good achievement for Slovenian club football. They drew Rangers 1:1 at Ibrox and will be in Pot 4 for tomorrow's EL group stage draw

Sporting Braga (POR)
Club Brugge (BEL)
Birmingham City (ENG)
NK Maribor (SLV)

not the most attractive group, but Maribor get get results. Braga will be tough, even if they are weaker than last season. Dinamo Zagreb played well against Brugge, they are an average European team. Birmingham City are in the English second division, and may not take this tournament too seriously as a return to the EPL is more important

Maribor - Brugge 3:4 .
"Slovenian syndrome" strikes again. There is no lead that we can`t squander.. After our best 70 minutes in this season we just stopped playing, thinking it`s all over. Belgians had much luck too.. everything just went in. our naivety and lack of physical strength didn`t help us either.
i am so pissed. we could take so much more in this group. we had lead in our all three home games and never been outplayed by opponents, and yet we have only 1 point.. we`ve been horrible away so far though.
