WC 2010 Slovenija : USA

Friday, 16.00! A very important game. And a very difficult one too.

The Americans have a very solid team, very much like ours, without any stars but who are really working great as a team. Luckyly for us, this is a game without any real pressure. We've got our historic first win under our belt so we can really go for it. By saying there's no pressure I mean that, noone can demand a win, like most of us did against Algeria, if we admit it or no.

America made a huge progress over the last years, more and more of them come to play in Europe and also their league is getting better. The money in their game is huge too. Plus the numbers are unbelivable. The reporter said the othere day, that 25 million people over there play football. That's roughly 12 times more than the entire population of our country! That means they have somewhere to choose from.

As for the game itself, I belive it will be tight. I think we are there abouts in terms of quality. We have every chance of wining this game. Of course we'll have to show a lot more than against Algeria. And we've got plenty of reserves for that!

We play better when we have the underdog role, plus I believe the players will have a lot more self confidence now that they broke the ice.

Whats your opinion on Dedić vs. Ljubijankić? Who should start against USA?:undecide:

If you ask me I would go for Pečnik, but that won't happen. He is fast enough and has a good pass, plus he can track back, he could provide more cover cause we need to stop them in the midfield, they are really fast.

I think that our reporters should get their heads out of their asses. USA population is 300 millions, so 25 millions is almost 10%. What happened to traditional american sports like american football, baseball and basketball? My guess is that the reporter indeed read somewhere that 25 million people in USA play football, and he assumed that it's about european football. Specially someone like Milovanovic, who I am sure couldn't tell the difference between american football ball and rugby ball.

On topic: we win this one 1:0. Play ugly like hell again, but 67th minute corner hits Cesar in the head and that's it.

@Funlovin: I think Dedic should start again, with Ljubjankic and Pecnik coming on as subs like against Algeria.

no its true, its just we usually stop playing at the age of 13. Soccer, or football, is the number 1 youth sport here because its relatively easy to play, just let the kids run around with the ball unlike baseball or American football where its more costly (need to buy the gear)

I think the US will play more attacking than what they will against England, but a point for them won't be bad because I think 5 points will be good enough, Algeria seem to be a mess

OAnimal, I don't know where Bergant (I know, I know :rollani got that information from, but I never had the impression that he had proffesionals in mind. I guess what he meant is, people who play football more or less organised. And yes, that numbre is impressive!

Funlovin: I agree with OAnimal on Dedič. He should start. He's a fantastic fighter, never gives up, runs like mad, doesn't give the defence a break. He's a perfect player to start upfront. Later in the game, if necessary, by all means bring on Ljubijankič or Pečnik.

Polak: We'll take that 1% than, tkank you very much!

Don΄t bother about Polak, he is just bitter since his team only managed to finish 5th in qualifying the group after being gangraped by us in Maribor...

But at least we did beat them. And we beat Northern Ireland, Slovakia, Poland and Russia in the qualifiers. All you could beat was frigging San Marino. Now take your Polish crap elsewhere.

US making a big deal of what Komac said, apparently he said something like "Slovenia will win" which I guess in "our" (I know I don't live in Croatia but I read the papers there) part of the world its common but here in America its not a PC thing to say so they are making a big deal of his press interview, unless they translated it wrong anyway

Basically they are using it as bulletin board material

I don't know what Komac said, but knowing our guys I doubt he said "we will win". Sure something like "we can win" is in no way disrespectfull, towards the USA, becouse quite frankly we can.

Anyway, about tomorrows game, I think Kek won't change a thing about the starting like up. Maybe there's a small chance of him replacing Dedič with Ljubijankič, but I don't think it will happen. Dedič is too important for us as a starter, and Zlatan proved himself as a very good substitution.

I also belive that we will go into this game a lot more confident and attacking minded, but not reckless. Again, patience is a real virtue of this team!

Gettin more and more nervous!

We don΄t. It just pisses me off when stupid descendants of low rank Polish cigarette smuggler and East Asian strip dancer come to our forum to vent their frustration because their pathetic little team did shit in qualifiers, while ours qualified with merit and have won their first game in the World Cup.

Algeria isn't any determinant, despite that's not classy rival you wouldn't win this match without Chaouchi's help. We'll see what you'll show in matches against England and USA, I wish you that your players will play same good matches as we vs. Germany in last WC at least...

Thanks. Mind you, I didn't say that we played good. On the contrary, we played bad and we were lucky to win it indeed. But on the other hand, which team (save Argentina, Brazil, Germany and maybe a few others) didn't play bad as well? Why pick on Slovenia? I am sure we can and will play better against USA. We'll see if it will be enough for a draw or a maybe even a win.
