Mali nogomet (Futsal) EC 2007 qualifiers

Our futsal NT starts off their EC 2007 qualifying tournament today in Laško. We are the hosts of a group in which there are also Belgium, Romania and Moldova. We are the favourites to qualify to the EC as there is only place for one team to go there. It should be a tough road there though as Belgium and Romania are two very good sides.

Hopefully our team can pull it off, thereefore I whish them all the best!

Our team started off well, they won their first game against Moldova 6:2 with half power also resting two key players.

No doubt a tougher game awaits us today as we face Romania. We have to win of course as Romania beat Belgium 4:1 in the other game today.

We also won against Romania by a comfortable 4:2 and with some really fine football displayed!

In the other game of the day Belgium beat Moldova by 3:2.

So what does that mean, is the game against Belgium just a formality or do we atleast have to draw or what. OAnimal you are more into these kind of things?

Bins, Belgium is said to be a very good team and before the tournament they were represented as our main rivals for the place in the EC. Than in their first game they lost to Romania. I can't really say much but as far as I know they were supposed to be a good and if I'm not wrong they even finished third in one of the EC's quite some time ago. I guess this now is a pretty new team. We'll see tomorrow as the game will be live on our TV and also on Eurosport 2.

Today we play Belgium in our last game and I expect nothing less than comfortable victory, even though a draw would be enough to qualify us for the Euro.

Probably not. Action 21 has had a lot of financial trouble as well. They even were bankrupt at one point. Not sure what their current situation is.

Well the average Balgians trashed us 3:1 and bye-bye EC! We we so much better, cosntanty dictating tempo, having all the chances yet they scored three from just as many chances. Our team must have succumbed under pressure, I can't see any other reasonable explanation. As a resultof our defeat Romania qualified to the EC.

Well, yes, I still think that Belgium is an average team (no offense, bins ), while ours is maybe just slightly better. They needed a 4 goal win yesterday to qualify and once they were 1 goal up, they couldn't do anything to increase their lead, they could only defend themselves. But they have beaten us fair and square yesterday, so congrats for their performance and for fair-play, because although they had little chances to advance, they played as they could, although they could say: "oh, what the hell, we probably can't advance, so why bother anyway...".

About our team, well, we always crack under pressure. If there is a minimal chance to screw it up, we will do exactly that. Not only in futsal, but in every team sport there is. I suspect it's in our genes...

True, they couldn't really put togather a decent action in which they'd put us under pressure, let alone have periods where they'd dominate. Yet, like you say, their win is fair and square.

During the second half of the twentieth century, quite a lot of Turkish and Moroccan immigrants came to Belgium (or were brought, if you will) to work in coalmines etcetera. Needless to say, a lot of these people built a life in Belgium, stayed and had children here. A lot of these kids play football and end up in futsal, hence the question.

You're right, even though we lost because of it, their fair-play was admirable, I wish every team would play at 100% every game, no matter what.
