Euro Cups 2006/07

I know it had begun quite some time ago with allthe qualifiers and the Intertoto Cup and all, but the reall action is yet to begin. Now it's the appropriate time to start this thread as today the CL draw will be held in Monaco.

Here are the four pots and teams involved:

Pot One
Real Madrid (Spain),
AC Milan (Italy),
Barcelona (Spain),
Liverpool (England),
Manchester United (England),
Valencia (Spain),
Internazionale (Italy),
Arsenal (England)

Pot Two
Bayern Munich (Germany),
Chelsea (England),
Celtic (Scotland),
Olympique Lyon (France),
Porto (Portugal),
PSV Eindhoven (Holland),
Roma (Italy),
Lille (France)

Pot Three
Sporting Lisbon (Portugal),
Benfica (Portugal),
Bordeaux (France),
Steaua Bucharest (Romania),
Werder Bremen (Germany),
Olympiakos (Greece),
CSKA Moscow (Russia),
AEK Athens (Greece)

Pot Four
Anderlecht (Belgium),
Dynamo Kiev (Ukraine),
Levski Sofia (Bulgaria),
Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine),
Galatasaray (Turkey),
Hamburg (Germany),
Spartak Moscow (Russia),
FC Copenhagen (Denmark)

It will be interesting to see what the draw will bring but allready now it seems to me this should be a good competition as there are plenty of very good teams in the last pot as well, so I recon we should see no walkovers this time arround.

As an Arsenal fan, I'd like my team to get a group like this:

Arsenal
Roma :smileani:
Werder
Anderlecht

Here's what the draw brought:

Group A:

Barcelona
Chelsea
Werder
Levski

Group B:

Inter
Bayern
Sporting
Spartak

Group C:

Liverpool
PSV
Bordeaux
Galatasaray

Group D:

Valencia
Roma
Olympiakos
Šahtjor

Group E:

Real Madrid
Lyon
Steaua
Dinamo Kijev

Group F:

Manchester United
Celtic
Benfica
FC Kobenhavn

Group G:

Arsenal
Porto
CSKA
Hamburger SV

Group H:

AC Milan
Lille
AEK
Anderlecht

Not the kind of group I wanted for my Arsenal, tough, but still doable. Especially I don't like the Russian side as the trips over there are always risky, especially late in the year when it's freezing. It's a tricky group.:undecide:

Group A is cracking me up , Barca and Čelski again. I have a feeling the mob won't even get out of the group this time!

Arsenal has got a tricky group indeed, specially with the Hamburger SV, which has to be the toughest opponent from the 4th pot.

Spartak got theirselves into a tricky group as well, Inter and Bayern both usually do well in group stages...

As for Chelsea, I don't think they will have much trouble getting into the first two places, I don't think Werder and Levski can upset the two giants...

Celtic and Valencia got a relatively good draw.

All in all, an interesting draw imo. Quite some groups more than worth following.

So the CL is on the way. Here are yesterdays results:

Group A:

Barcelona 5 : 0 Levski
Chelsea 2 : 0 Werder

Standings Group A: Barcelona in Chelsea 3, Werder in Levski 0

Group B:

Sporting 1 : 0 Inter
Bayern 4 : 0 Spartak

Standings Group B: Bayern in Sporting 3, Inter in Spartak 0

Group C:

PSV 0 : 0 Liverpool
Galatasaray 0 : 0 Bordeaux

Standings Group C: Liverpool, Bordeaux, Galatasaray in PSV 1

Group D:

Roma 4 : 0 Šahtjor
Olympiacos 2 : 4 Valencia

Standings Group D: Roma in Valencia 3, Olympiacos in Šahtjor 0

Easy job for Barca there and also the mobsters did enough to get a good win. Inter is just plain Inter no matter who plays for them, whille Bayers did well to trash Spartak. A goalless group C. And a nice win for Roma there, whille Valencia came late to beat Olimpiacos thanks to three goals from Morientes.

Today's games:

Group E
Dinamo Kijev - Steaua
Lyon - Real Madrid

Group F
Köbenhavn - Benfica
Manchester United - Celtic

Group G
Porto - CSKA Moskva
Hamburg - Arsenal

Group H
Milan - AEK Atene
Anderlecht - Lille

My Arsenal are away to Hamburg. A tough one there, especially concidering the kind of form we are currently in. Plus we'll be without Henry. A tough job indeed. Simply a must win situation. Becouse of an important good start to the competition but also becouse we just need a win to get some confidence for the Premiership.

Bayern was actually lucky not to be 2 goals behind in the first half. Then they scored from the first two half chances they have created, Spartak opened up a bit and then Bayern scored another two from the spaces Spartak defense left behind. Even with 0:4 and 5 minutes left Spartak created three 100% chances to score, but the ball just wouldn't go in. On the other hand, whatever Bayern shot on target (save 2 or 3 shots straight at the keeper), went in. :rollani:
OK, they deserved to win, but the final result is way too harsh on Spartak...

We'll get those fvcks in Moscow...

Well my comment was based only on the result, not the game itself as I didn't get to see it.

I know that, that's why I wrote that to clear things up. Obviously, if I only saw the result, I'd think about it the same way you did.

Yes, Spartak seemed to play along well. But they collapsed after the 1-0. Is that a correct summary?

Oh and the Ronaldinho goal, brilliant again.

More or less. However, after 0:4 as I said they came to life again and had 3 great opportunities.

A win for Arsenal. I take the three points and a win. I'm glad Rosicky had a fantastic game and scored a cracker in an otherwisse another rather poor performance by us. I'm not too proud of what happened at the start of the game though, a disgracefull Van Persie dive. Really shamefull and tasteless act there.

Elsewhere a shock easy win for Steaua in Kijev, and Lyon yet again proved to be too much for Real. United and Celtic had a good game and in the end a deservable win for ManU. I Kobenhavn a draw between the home team and Benfica. Porto also drew with CSKA. Milan had little to do with AEK and Anderlecht and Lille shared a point.

Well, not to defend him, but still, he was not the only one last night. There were other disgraceful dives that resulted in penalties (Shitzaghi in Milan - AEK (no surprise here, as he is well known as a pvssy, going down at the slightest of touches :rollani: ) and (I think) Giggs one in ManU - Celtic)... When will these fat fvcks at FIFA and UEFA realize that video evidence needs to be used in the game to prevent these cheaters winning penalties is beyond me... :rollani:

Well, khm, khm, I actually though that that was a faul in Inzaghi.:eekani: Plus the one on Giggs was so-so.

I agree with you on the video evidence. It's about bloody time for it tobe introduced!

I don't know how you saw it, but I saw it in a replay and it was a definite dive, Shitzaghi style in its best really.

The results od the CL round 2, day one:

Group E:

Steaua 0 : 3 Lyon
Real 5 : 1 Dinamo Kijev

Standings Group E: Lyon 6, Real Madrid 3, Steaua 3, Dinamo Kijev 0

Group F:

Benfica 0 : 1 Manchester United
Celtic 1 : 0 Kobenhavn

Standings Group F: Manchester Utd 6, Celtic 3, Benfica 1, Kobenhavn 1

Group G:

Arsenal 2 : 0 Porto
CSKA 1 : 0 Hamburg

Standings Group G: Arsenal 6, CSKA 4, Porto 1, Hamburg 0

Group H:

Lille 0 : 0 Milan
AEK 1 : 1 Anderlecht

Standings Group H: Milan 4, Lille 2, Anderlecht 2, AEK 1

A good, solid win by my Arsenal over Porto, even easier than I could imagine. The belief is back in the team, we are getting stronger, the victories are back. Great to see that!

CSKA got an important win over HSV in the other game of the group.

In group E, Lyon are looking frightening they stromed past Steaua as well as Real did past Dinamo.
A Pretty poor game in Lisabon where ManU eventually got the win, and Celtic did enough to beat Kobenhavn in group F.
Lilla held Milan to a draw in group H also thanks to a big referee mistake dissalowing Seedorf's regular goal. AEK and Anderlecht also shared a point.

SLOVENIJA
