Friendlies in 2006

------------------------

Our NT will play a friendly tournament in Cyprus which will be from february 27th till march 2nd. Other teams participating are: Greece, Romania, Finland, Belarus, Armenia,Kazahstan and Cyprus. And interesting tournament which I'm sure Brane will use to try our some more young players.

Other than that, before the WC kicks off we should play two more friendlies, on may 31st it's almost a done deal for the game with Trinidad and Tobago, whill there are still talks being held for the june 7th game which should be against Spain.

Yep, for some strange reason I find those friendlies OK too, which was not always the case before. So,this time, good job by the NZS.

So what happened to that unfortunate Portugal tournament in january that our team attends every year? I hope it's now off?

Yep, I agree. And I think this must be the first time we actually congratulate our FA for doing good job in the entire history of XT.

I never heard it was off. Why would you like it to be off? It's perfect for Oblak to test some new players, to see how they can do on international stage. Not many team managers get the luxury of that. More international games the better, that's what I always say.

I said that becouse it never brought us any good, only embarassing results, even under Katanec. :undecide:

Anyway, it's on, from january 23 to 27. We play the hosts first and than according to our result either Belarus or Slovakia. Brane will take the B team there as only three regulars are allowed to be in the team. Those three are Matej Mavrič, Ilič and Pečnik. The rest are youngsters amongst which Brane will try to pick out a few and than take them to Cyprus.

---------------------------------------------------

The list:

Keepers: Jasmin Handanovič (Koper), Mitja Pirih (Gorica)

Defenders: Janez Aljančič (Triglav Kranj), Branko Ilič (Domžale), Matjaž Lunder (Drava), Matej Mavrič (Molde), Andrej Pečnik (Sigma), Marko Šuler (Gorica), Janez Zavrl (Domžale)

Midfielders: Dominik Beršnjak (Publikum), Sebastjan Gobec (Publikum), Bojan Jokič (Gorica), Miha Kline (Domžale), Saša Ranič (Gorica), Zoran Zeljkovič (Domžale), Simon Živec (Gorica)

Forwards: Valter Birsa (Gorica), Miran Burgič (Gorica), Gorazd Zajc (Maribor), Zlatan Ljubijankič (Domžale).

Hey you lost soul, you show up again!

You are right, a goal scored would be an improovment indeed. :rollani:

Anyway, here's how our team should look like today:

-----------------------Pirih----------------------------

----Aljančič--------Ilič------M.Mavrič----------Pečnik---

Živec----------Ranič--------Gobec-------------Beršnjak

----------------------Birsa------Burgič-----------------

Somewhow I don't like the idea of Ilič as the centre back. :undecide:

I agree, Ilic is much more useful as right back. Looking forward to see Birsa & Burgic upfront, they should score a few.

Hehe Sir kleber, you didn't destroy us.

Actually, this was not our U21 team, it was a selection of players who play in Slovenian league + 2 more experienced players playing abroad. Good to see this team do very well.

Yes, it would be great to win it. Oblak was very satisfied with the performance against Portugal, especially stressing out the fighting spirit and how homogene the team was.

Yesterday our boys lost in the final 2:3 after being in the lead 2:1, we got the final goal some three minutes before the end.

From what I hear though, the young team didn't play that bad and some players impressed Oblak.
