October 8th, WC qualifier, Italy - Slovenija

So, only week to go! Oblak held a press conference yesterday and said our aim will be to win. He emphasised that we are in no way the favourites but we certainly do have chances. Statistics say that wehave a positive score against them,as one of few team outthere. We played eachother four times untill now, and we won twice, lost once and draw once. They are defenetly a team that suits us and I'm sure this time it will be no different. Of course that doesn't mean they can't kick our ass, they sure can, I mean, like them or not, they do have a strong team, with great individuals that can win big time agains any team in the world. But, not us! We will win! Again!

It will be difficult indeed, but our bojs are capable of doing it you know! Too bad Nastja can't play as he was really good in the last two games. On the other hand though, Mile seems to be back in form so that's good news for us.

Seems like Italy's known better times. Won't make it any easier though.

Good luck, guys.

First let me welcome you to our forum Bac! I see you are an Aussie Slovenian, or am I wrong? Anyway, nice to have you onboard.

But than, I must tell you right away, that here is no place for insults or something like that, towards nobody! Please post in a respective way. Sure you don't have to like Italy, I don't either , but no insults!

I hope you'll find the place interesting and will stay here.

Oh, and I do agree with you, if we do beat Italy, our bojs are the champions allready.

i would like to have a big reason to be optimistic. I just think the Italians won't repeat their mistakes for a third time.

Actually this will be their fourth. They were once rescued by a certain referee. :frustrat:

What's with all that pesimism? :eekani: Cheer up people. Sure they can kick our asses, so what. We can do it too! Again, they are a team that suits us and why should we be be affraid of them. Respect them? Yes. Fear them? Hell no! We have a decent team of young players that are willing to give their all on the pitch, and I have a lot of faith in them. I'm confident that the bojs can make it! The hard way of course!

That was a robbery indeed, but it was the ref to be blamed. Italy was "just" lucky once again. :irritate:

Our team allready has three trainings behind them and all is going well. Except for Lavrič, who still feels his injury, everybody else is OK and practice normaly. According to Brane the guys are in a good shape in good form, he is particulary happy about Mile who is appearently in a very good form. Also Cesar cameback from injury the past wekend and is now looking sharp again.

So, good news from our camp, the team is determined not to make is easy for the Italians. The spirit is there and that's the way it should be!

I wonder what will our team be on saturday? Maybe something like that:

-----------------------B.Mavrič--------------------------

---------M.Mavrič---Knavs----Cesar---Pečnik-------------

Komac----------Žlogar------------Sešlar-------------Koren

----------------------Mile--------------------------------

----------------------------Cime(Šiljak)-------------------

I even remember the referee's name: Schweinemann. What a disgrace to football!

And he almost faked us in that legendary Kijev battle. :frustrat: Luckyly, as Srečko said back than, "Bog je in vse vidi!"

Really, I hope the referees in this match will be good ones. I hear there will be a woman as one of the line refs.

-----------------

Latest news say that Oblak is thinking about giving up on Lavrič as he still isn't fit and can't hit the ball with his right foot. Also Pečnik left out the latest practice due to virosis. Other than that, things are fine.

With Lavrič out we are a bit thin on the forwards postion. We have Cime, but both Šiljak and Rodič are not that convincing.
